  • How to take a screenshot on a Mac - the comprehensive guide

Having to press to 4 and four buttons for a screenshot is excessive when you're using this feature often. I suggest changing it to Command-3 and Command-4 for saving the desktop and window, respectively, to the desktop. It's an easy edit in Sys Prefs » Keyboard pane » Shortcuts tab.

but that is how i switch tabs in safari (command+1 or 2 or 3 or 4 etc)

I miss Snapz Pro - it was always my command-shift-5 to allow quick video screen caps. Ambrosia's connection to RIT got me using it way too long ago!

I've seen ump-teen articles on taking screenshots in MacOS, and I have been able to accomplish what I need to for a while. What I haven't seen – maybe because there may be no native support for it – is how to take shots of entire webpages in Safari. I wish someone would give that issue some love, since it comes up a lot more often, for me anyway, than the regular screenshot functionality.

Also in Cmd-Shift-4, you can hit the space bar to take a screenshot on the window your in.
Or any of your open windows (even if they are mostly hidden) Good call netling - i have always liked the space bar --> window option.

The auto-naming of Apple screenshots with the date & time down to the second is also a wonderful thing.

The Develop menu in Safari lets you do it:

Develop -> Web Inspector -> right click on the element you want (or whole page) and select "Capture Screenshot"

  • Facebook paid contractors to transcribe Messenger app audio

If you want to have your eyes opened, use your MacBook, iPhone, and the Charles Proxy app to watch what (and how often) various apps communicate home — who needs the NSA when there’s Facebook!?
For simplicity, Ghostery still works great on my browsers.
Every page load i get that great little pop up telling me whats happening.

Downside is about 10% of pages don't operate correctly.
