Judicial panel orders consolidation of 61 iPhone throttling lawsuits, case to be heard in ...
I think it’s going to be difficult to prove damages beyond a benchmark.
What dis your phone fail to do? Can you prove the slowdown prevented you from doing something and that it caused harm? Can you prove the slowdown actually harmed you and that it actually happened? Of your phone would have shut down instead of slowing down, would that have harmed you more or less?
Were you you going to buy a new phone anyway or did the slowdowns force you to because you were being harmed by the slowdown?
In the end, the lawyers win and everyone else will get $5 or a free battery or some other token award.
Apple should have been more up front. Even if they were, I think the end result would have been the same. -
Apple planning to ditch Intel chips in Macs for its own custom silicon in 2020
2020? That soon?
If Apple wants to dump Intel because it thinks it can make faster processors than intel for less, then they will.
Consumers dont care care or even know what a processor is. It runs their “Apps” and it does what they need.
Rosetta II will ease the transition. Consumers won’t care. If developers support Apple, then the software will continue to exist regardless of the CPU inside.
Apple doesn’t make much money (%-wise) on pro machines. They won’t miss it if they continue to make awesome hardware for iOS or macOS.
The PowerPC is dead. Intel may die on Macs. The A-series is probably faster than the average Intel chip for a fraction of the price.
Bring it. -
If you don't want to delete your Facebook account, here's how to cut back
I like to say I use FB. It doesn’t use me. I have no personal information posted in my profile. Even my birth date is wrong. Phone number? 555-1212.
First, I basically have 90% of my friends hidden so I don’t see their posts. I don’t follow them. I’m not there to see what they are doing. I don’t care. I’m there if they need to contact me or vice-versa. Send me a message. Don’t post to your wall.
Second, I am a member of or follow a very select few groups. I see news regarding what those groups are doing (like, say, an Apple group devoted to powerPcs, or the modelers association of a very ancient sci-fi television show).
Third, I go back and delete my comments if I even post any about once every 2-3 weeks.
Fourth, I never like anything.
Fifth, I don’t follow companies, take surveys, play games, etc.
Sixth, I receive zero notifications. I check it on my terms.
I should just delete it completely, but it does have its uses.
Now, if I could just stay off of a few other sites... -
