  • Inexpensive 'Apple Watch SE' may arrive at Apple's 'Time Flies' event

I too like getting the AppleInsider notifications :)

I am interested in this alleged SE Watch, as it could be a potential purchase for my son.
However, I don’t think pairing it to a parent’s iPhone is a good idea or useful.
Don’t most kids have phones these days? Especially when they get to around age 11.

That said, a kid mode ala SceeenTime would be good, i.e. my sons school doesn’t allow smart watches, but if an Apple Watch had a school mode, where it was a watch and only a watch (for telling the time) between specified hours of specified days, then the school might relent.

  • England and Wales launching COVID-19 app using Apple/Google system

The UK has been shown to be an ineffectual joke, as usual with government funded IT.
Any half decent media agency could have delivered this app in the summer for a cost less than 1% of the alleged £12m
I myself have delivered systems far more complex with a small team in less than 3 months.
I really wish Apple and Google had just built apps that worked globally one for each platform but I guess legalities prevented that.

  • Facebook accuses Apple of anticompetitive behavior in EU antitrust filing

Wait.... how come I can use shadow.tech for cloud gaming to stream PC games to my Mac and iPad?

These whingers are liars that need to work within the rules of the platform they want to target and stop trying to make rules for platforms they don’t own.

  • Epic Games' CEO responds to Apple's countersuit in Twitter thread

Epic have also by their actions highlighted the danger in what they want to acheive.
They put an app in Apple’s app-store that had a trojan horse in it! and Epic are 40% chinese owned...
If they get to bypass Apple’s review process what else will they put in their games?

  • Protect Scotland contact tracing app taps Apple-Google Exposure Notification system

The slow implementation has been startling, how have countries not got functioning apps yet?
Any competent country could have had an app live in the summer.
I agree many won’t install. I know people who give fallse contact details when they go to restaurants etc. due to fears of big-brother.
But, every bit helps surely. If it highlights a breakout or surge early or prevents only a few deaths it’s got to be worth it.
