  • Apple's new iMac comes with color-matched accessories, braided cords

I am disappointed in the power bricks:
    1. It’s external.
    2. proprietary
    3. the cable is permanently connected to the brick. No swapping out for a longer/shorter cable, have to replace the lot if the cable breaks, or the brick come to that. Serious $.
I dislike external power bricks and have always appreciated built-in PSUs in Apple products (ATV, Mac mini, iMac, Airports etc.) but had it been internal it would have been proprietary and probably very difficult to replace given that Apple have probably made this Mac very difficult to open up.

I'm not sure the connected cable will be that much of an issue. It isn't a product like a laptop that is being plugged/unplugged and moved about all the time.

  • New iMac Pro & Apple TV hardware, increased MacBook Pro orders expected in 2021

    What does PEBCAK mean?
User error. Problem exists between chair and keyboard, i.e. the person.

  • Microsoft beta build of Apple Silicon-compatible Office for Mac imminent

In June, during the presentation for the DC, Apple clearly stated that Office would be available when the first new Macs came out, so this is a disappointment.
They’re taking about a universal binary version. Are you claiming the current version will not run under Rosetta 2? Isn’t that what Rosetta 2 is for, running Intel coded apps? And you don’t need a universal binary to do that, right?
Apple demonstrated Word, Excel and Powerpoint all running natively on AS in June so I guess it is a little disappointing that you will only be able to get it within the Beta channel at product launch. Hopefully it is a stable version of Office recompiled, rather than including new Beta features as well which don't always work too well.

  • Apple introduces new Apple Silicon Mac mini with $699 price tag

Actually, I'm surprised any Apple Silicon Mac supports Thunderbolt at all because up until now only Intel made Thunderbolt chips.
Intel opened up the possibility for other vendors to make their own controllers last year. There are AMD motherboards on the market that support Thunderbolt without any Intel support chips on board.

  • Portrait mode's 'bokeh' was a risky and massive quest for perfection

That brown shape in the top center of that image is exactly what can go wrong.
The camera works fine in the image. It’s just a crap composition.
Whilst it could be improved you don't always get the opportunity in street photography to get a perfect composition. If you had camera capable of providing a shallow depth of field and good bokeh it wouldn't be an issue. Clearly the AI has failed to achieve what is possible with better quality equipment.
