I think Vision OS is much more than Apple Vision Pro.

Apple now has not just awesome real time OS technology, but the R1 chip's ability to accurately process  lots of sensor data in real time  is something to keep an eye on.

These things may very well be Apple Car technology being introduced now to be refined for the future.  This technology could be used in navigation of cars, airplanes, space ships etc...

Time will tell.

How many people would love to upgrade their Intel based iMacs but keep their 27 inch monitor/AV for their new ARM based Mac?

One can't even sell the 27 inch display because it is tightly coupled with the old Intel CPU.

The beauty of this visionOS is that Apple is in a unique position to do this.
It cannot be easily copied.

-Custom CPU / GPU cores that sip power.
-RealTime OS
-Foveated Rendering and spatial frameworks, Multi-App 3D Engine.
-Over 5000 Patents.

I predict that this will be HUGE in this Automated AI era.
The monitor capabilities and user interface alone are already huge.

I think Apple is not showing all their cards to avoid crazy copycats like the iPhone OS.

Very interesting technology indeed.  Fovea based rendering and Spacial Frameworks sound like StarTrek Holodeck technology.
Considering that the Apple 32" monitor has a $5700 price tag, the $3499 for VisionPro does not look so bad.
This visionOS with AI capabilities may also be applicable for Cars, AirPlaines and Space shuttles amongst other things.

Looking forward to more info.

I am expecting Star Trek Holodeck Technology.

I mean let Steve Jobs join Tim Cook to launch this product in an AR / VR  Holodeck and price will not matter.
