  • Apple still depends on traditional American engineers, and is slowly losing them

I think kids today have less motivation, just overall less interest in doing real world builds and repairs. The information resources available today are absolutely incredible, is there a shortage of 'labs' as this article claims - possibly, I don't know.  Creativity as a whole is dying - and I do blame the smartphone for that. Kids have little interest in the hobbies that I grew up with, R/C, models, rocketrey, music composition with real instruments, building a PC, even programming computers using BASIC. They live in a virtual world - more interested in seeing something on a screen than experiencing it in real life. Most American colleges prepare kids for service oriented jobs, the few colleges that do have excellent STEM programs are filled with foreign students!

I disagree with one point in the article, personally I think "Googling it" has allowed me to learn and fix even more stuff - I never would have taken the entire front fender off my car - if I didn't have a video showing me how. Or install my own bathroom sink, complete with welding copper pipes. During lockdown, there are so many kids that don't know what to do with themselves ... besides play Fortnite and watch idiotic Youtube videos for hours on end.
That's because all they hear is learn to code, learn to code.  Coding is barely doing and most coders lack a holistic view of what they are working on.  They like the freedom to hop from job to job and employers like their interchangeability.  It isn't the kids.

That said - good work is happening in AI/ML, VR/MR, etc.  Also the tech disdain of unions has lead to a decline of skilled trades in tech.

So where are all those AI members who were praising the value of these tax breaks to the workforce and thus the tax base? IMO we HAVE to stop giving $millions/$billions to already wealthy corporations. Politicians appear to be bought off with promises of this or that far too often and middle class taxpayers are expected to pony up when things go south.
And yes, I'd argue that instead of giving tax breaks to corporations and hoping it will stimulate the economy, why not put more disposable wealth in the hands of the average working person (by reducing the cost of social services everyone uses like health care and education, reducing income tax at lower and middle brackets, etc) and actually create greater demand for products and services?  Which, in turn, would create more jobs as businesses grow to meet that increased demand.
But that would be anti-American.  Here we socialize the losses and privatize the profits (gains).

So when is “Time Machine” backup being removed from MacOS? It is not perfect but I works and that what I like
Time Machine literally has nothing to do with AirPorts, so not sure why that'd be a thing. A Time Capsule was just network attached storage.
It's only a thing because so many third-party routers don't support Time Machine.

We had a big external drive plugged into the USB port on the Airport. Our new router doesn't even have a USB port. The one we tried before this one had a port and allowed setting up the drive as shared storage, but it would not work with Time Machine. Apparently there's something unique about Time Machine that the router must specifically support. Just because a router allows attached storage doesn't necessarily mean that Time Machine will work. The majority of routers we looked at didn't.

Not that we particularly miss it. Before we made the switch we wanted to make complete backups of all our computers. We started with mine, a Touch Bar MBP with about 750GB stored on it. When it still hadn't finished the initial backup after THREE DAYS we gave up on it.
The rule of thumb is that the first backup should be directly connected to the computer.  All subsequent backups can be done over wifi.

When the constitution was written there was no concept of good that was not physical.
Are thoughts legally a “good”? And specifically, is “intellectual property” that is not yet written down considered a “thought”?
...anything not stored in a hole in your own backyard - you don't have an expectation of privacy...
Even then you don’t have any expectation, because you don’t actually own the land. You can own your house, but not the land. Thanks, literally the communist manifesto, for subverting our government and getting that passed!
Basically, the courts have not been faithful as to the intent of the constitution
Gasp! A fact about the courts? Heresy!
I highly doubt they meant for public use to allowing the government to take your property and give it to another private corporation as to increase the tax base (did they even have property taxes back then ... ) .  Public use is very simply - roads, infrastructure, public parks... not legalized theft.
Gotta thank Marx for that one, too.

I can’t like AND informative your post, unfortunately.

When will people learn not to keep naked photos on their personal devices?
When will people learn not to keep naked photos?

If people want to keep, take, send etc. nude pictures of themselves or their SOs that is their business.  It isn't an issue if you don't care that other people may accidentally see them.

How about turning them off?  Or closing the lid of a laptop, or turning on the monitor shutoff option in energy saver?

Perhaps not being so tired you fall asleep at your desk is also a start.
