Now if only they'd make one for the AppleTV. With real buttons for fast forward and reverse. Ya know...like a useable one...made for human sized hands...

You can use a different remote with it as long it's a reasonably recent model (something like gen 2 or later). Pick nearly any IR remote of your liking and have the Apple TV learn it. I understand the hate some of the ATV remotes get but I don't understand why people don't opt for a different remote if they don't like it.
Problem is the IR sensor might not be visible for everyone. I have my Apple TV mounted to the back of my TV, for instance.

That has me wondering though, does anyone make a Bluetooth compatible remote that works with the Apple TV. Not that it really matters to me, I’m one of those rare few that loves the Siri Remote.
Logitech Harmony remotes with a hub (the higher-end ones like the "elite" and "pro") have bluetooth support for the Apple TV and work well. But I would be interested in a simpler bluetooth remove from Satechi -- if the price weren't too high.

  • Microsoft brings unified Office app to iPad

Whether the Microsoft apps are free depends on the screen size of the iPad:

"If your iPad screen is smaller than 10.1 inches, you can use the Office apps for free. You will need to create a free Microsoft account.

If your iPad screen is larger than that, which includes the latest 10.2-inch iPad and the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros, you’ll need a Microsoft 365 subscription to use Office apps for iOS."

I don't know if the same restrictions apply to the new unified app, but I would not be surprised.

  • Apple film 'Hala' trailer posted to Twitter

I appreciate the reviews, comments and announcements of new Apple TV+ content.  Unlike Apple Music, these shows are Apple products and therefore relevant.  If you aren't interested, you don't have to read them.

  • Editorial: Can journalists have feelings at Apple events?

Pretty much most tech writing in the New York Times is shrill garbage -- David Pogue was the last decent person they had. And the NYT commentariat is a virulently anti-Apple SJW cabal.

Not sure why anybody pays much attention to them, let alone get worked up about it.
As a long time Apple Fan (since 1979) and also a fan of the New York Time news coverage, I have to agree with this comment.  The NYT tech reviews are shrill and not very accurate.  I also liked (and still like David Pogue).

  • CBS All Access debuts on Apple TV Channels

I have been paying $10/month for commercial free CBS All Access for nearly two years now and am quite satisfied with it.  I like the All-Access only programming (Star Trek, etc.) and find the commercial-free shows very useful even though I record many of the same shows on my DirecTV DVR.  I regualrly watch at least a half dozen CBS shows and like the ability to see them commercial free without having to skip commercials on the DVR.

It has been especially helpful recently since DirecTV has dropped CBS coverage for the time being due to a contract disagreement.

And it is definitely as part of my future "cut the cable" strategy to drop DIrecTV as AT&T slowly ruins what was an excellent service.
