  • LastPass password vaults crackable for $100, alleges 1Password

I don't mind the subscription fee (less than $3 a month) for 1Password.  For that small fee, I get security, they get ongoing funds for updates, maintaining their servers and security infrastructure, etc. I view 1Password as an ongoing service, not just a one-time software package.

    Obviously, your opinion may vary.

  • Apple TV hardware will never be more than a hobby, unless Apple changes direction

The one thing I want from my TV is to remember what shows I watch and what streaming channels I watch them on. I don't have cable, but I subscribe to a LOT of streaming channels (in alpha order): Amazon Prime, Apple+, BritBox, Disney+, HBOMax, Hulu, Paramount+ and occasionally Showtime. I'm constantly annoyed that I need to remember what show is offered on what service... shouldn't my smart TV be smart enough to do that for me?

If Apple can put all my music into a single interface (regardless is whether I bought the single, or the album or streamed it), can’t they do the same for TV?

The AppleTV device DOES do that integration to a large extent. I subscribe to all the services you mention plus Discovery+, Acorn, Hulu+TV, and a few others.  My Now Playing list shows the programs I watch, and what the next episode is and I can click it and see the show regardless of the network/app that it comes from. (With the glaring exception of NETFLIX). There are some glitches, and often a show is available on more than one service, so I have to dig a little deeper and ask for Details which shows all the places I can view it (some free and some not).  It is also integrated with the streaming titles I have purchased from Apple.  This is the key advantage of the AppleTV to me over using Apple TV+ on any other device.

It works pretty well, although it needs NETFLIX integration. The problems described in the main article are there, and I'd like to see some of them improved, but this is the best watching experience I have ever had.

  • New Apple TV 4K gets fix for storage space bug

Are AppleTV apps allowed to download videos, movies and TV shows filling up large portions of the storage to keep the shows from stuttering, losing resolution and sound? I'm sure Apple's products are programmed to get a jump on videos to allow them to be viewed properly. Philo seems to have problems with Hallmark movies, even DVR'd ones. Is is possible for other AppleTV apps to be programmed to start downloading videos before they start showing them to have a buffer to keep them going?
No, the storage is for apps and their data only. No content is downloaded and stored.
The storage is also used for the screensavers that are downloaded.  It can be quite a lot -- I have over 30 screensavers.

  • Will Smith's Oscars slap didn't make Apple delay 'Emancipation,' says director

That is true, but they could have re-cast his role. Most contracts have an escape clause for behavior that causes damage to the project.
The film was completed before the academy awards "incident."  There is no reason why the film should be remade (at huge expense) with probably an inferior performance.

    I support Apple's decision.

  • Apple unveils trailer for Will Smith movie 'Emancipation'

I will watch it. I don't boycott movies for past indiscretions of artists.  And I like Will Smith's work.
In any event this was made prior to the academy awards, and the movie should not be penalized.
