  • Apple attorneys threaten UK market exit if court orders 'unacceptable' patent fees

The may have to leave the UK market to set an example and cool the current wave of attacks. What would be the cost of not leaving?
Presumably you think they should leave the Texas market too? Absolutely stupid comment. As if legal courts pay attention to childish threats like this.

The UK is way too profitable for Apple to even consider doing this.

  • Bill Gates said Steve Jobs caught Microsoft 'flat-footed' with launch of iTunes Store

The fact that Gates writes that Microsoft “match and do stuff better” just shows out of touch with reality he was. With that kind of delusion he was never going to recognise the fundamental problems Microsoft had which consistently resulted in them producing inferior products.

  • 90% of respondents in Apple employee-made survey want remote work option

Apple has not only set up for a hybrid return, they doubled down on the plan. It appears Cook & O'Brien are not going to change it. If some employees are not keen on the plan, they better have their resumes polished and ready for distribution. I don't feel sorry for them as the vast majority of workers don't have the luxury of working remotely a good portion of their time. Hell, a majority have no remote option available.
Really? Surveys here in the U.K. showed close to 50% of employees were able to successfully work from home during the pandemic with a large proportion wanting to continue to do so.
Now it’s true that blue collar workers and some white collar workers do have to go into work, but I’m surprised by your claim the “vast majority” of people in the USA fall into that category. You’re implying the USA workforce has less professional positions that other similar economies. I doubt that.

I still use my fully functional 2006 Black MacBook for ripping CDs and DVDs… my newer Macs don’t have optical drives.

Just because something is old it doesn’t mean you throw it away for something newer…

  • Apple to adopt hybrid work model despite worker pleas for more flexibility

Employees are going to get a little reality check about who calls the shots.

Those who’d rather stay home will have plenty of time to do just that when they’re looking for another job.
That won’t be difficult for them. The tech sector suffered at the start of the pandemic with a lot of start-ups going under. But since roughly October, the technology and engineering sectors have exploded in sales and are having difficulty recruiting enough staff.
Industry sees the pandemic as a period of disruption that potentially allows market incumbents to be challenged. As a result, research in R&D for new products is at an all time high.
