  • Belkin pauses Matter support in smart home devices

It's a cynical move for sure. At the moment they can make good money in the HomeKit market as all the cheap junk from China won't go to the trouble and expense to be HK compatible. If Matter catches on and the playing field is leveled, "poof" goes their profit margin and they have to compete with the bottom dwellers. So their response is to try to sabotage the Matter roll out... nice!

  • Apple got everything it wanted at the annual shareholder meeting

Anti-capitalist, socialist, activist shareholder proposals. Gotta love ‘em. I get tons of proxy statements from the companies in my portfolio. i always vote shareholder proposals down because you can easily tell  from whom and why they were on the ballot.

Wasn’t there one to oust Tim Cook as Chairman of the Board?
The one to oust Tim Cook was from a right-wing group - not your "Anti-capitalist, socialist," bogey-men.

  • Microsoft, Parallels partnership brings Windows 11 to Apple Silicon Macs

This is a big deal. Windows 11/ARM was NOT previously officially supported under parallels. Any questions you asked in a Microsoft forum or anywhere else were shutdown with “unsupported”. With Microsoft now officially supporting Parallels, it opens the doors in corporate environments.
And, I have to say, Windows 11 runs great under parallels , even x86 programs in emulation.

  • Two women saved in Canada thanks to Apple's Emergency SOS via Satellite

Back in April, Emergency SOS also saved a snowboarder in Switzerland. On a solo trip at about 10,000 feet altitude, Tim Blakey fell into a hidden crevasse in the snow.

Despite an iPhone battery life of 3%, he could use Emergency SOS to contact emergency services. Rescuers found him and took him to the hospital for an injured ankle.

I presume "April" is supposed to be some other month, given the satellite version of Emergency SOS didn't gen enabled until November.  The service was not available in April 2022.
That particular rescue was just good old fashioned SOS call  - he had weak cell coverage. I have spoken to Swiss guides and they have had to descend into crevasses and take out bodies of skiers/snowboarders that went off piste on the glaciers. The body heat melts the snow, and then has to removed from the refrozen ice with the use of a mini jack-hammer.

  • Apple resurrects full-size HomePod with updated acoustics

It was amusing how the chattering tech media seemed to think that since Siri couldn't answer questions like Alexa or Google then the HomePod was a failure.

Now look at Alexa - Amazon is/was losing many millions selling them below cost and is cutting the Alexa team.
The VAST majority of users use their smart speakers for a few things which Siri does perfectly well.

    - turning on smart home devices
    - playing music
    - setting alarms and timers

I think Apple has reintroduced the large HomePod as most people have worked out they just want the above, no need to ask for baseball scores.
