  • Hands on with Apple Vision Pro in the wild

Could this be used in a vehicle? Sounds strange I know but I envisage a use in vehicles like motorcycles where it could act like a HUD giving us more information around us that would allow use to keep our eyes on the road more.

  • Court sides with Apple in Bluetooth pairing patent lawsuit

As a user I can NEVER be pared to my Bluetooth device because neither I nor it are connected. My BT headphones are connected to my phone. In other words two devices are pared but I am not.

It’s an odd patent and should never have been granted.

  • Judge scolds Apple's lawyers over appeals arguments

Loving how Sweeney saying justice is delayed. He does realise the only thing he won was having a link that takes people out of their game to go to a different website to enter in their payment details to then go back into the game to carry on playing right?

That isn’t a justice win, it’s a great way for people to get annoyed with your app and go somewhere else.

If I was Apple I’d just let them have that little win. The overwhelming majority of people will still choose Apple’s IAP because it’s more convenient. I know I will.

  • After 11 years of work, people actually like Apple Maps

Google Maps has ALWAYS sucked in New Zealand.

When I first used it I couldn't work out why it kept sending me down the back way to my house. Then I realised it was because Google Maps had a paper road at the end that I had always driven to get home. Satellite clearly showed the road but the mapping system had the paper road and so it wouldn't send the correct way.

Day 1 of Apple Maps it sent me to correct route.

Want to see something more recent:

midsummer ave stratford — Google Maps

Google Maps has only started showing this area in the past 4 months. Once again, Apple Maps had been displaying it since it became available... at least 4 years ago.

I don't know where Google Maps gets its data from but Apple's use of TomTom maps has always put it ahead of Google's product for me.

The only thing I use Google Maps for is when zoomed in you can see house numbers. I use this in my role as a postie.

  • 'Diablo IV' skips Mac gamers, and Whoopi Goldberg is mad about it

One whole sentence. That's a very short article :-)
The article must have been cropped posting to the forum, the full article is here:

it is out of character for Blizzard to skip the Mac, and maybe a first?
They never ported Overwatch. OpenGL was the key to older Mac ports. Since Apple switched to Metal, games with a custom engine needs months of work to port.

They are also being bought out by Microsoft so I doubt Mac support will be a priority after that.
We don’t need AAA titles if this is their approach. We need games designed specifically for Macs that makes people want to game on Macs that leave Windows PCs and gaming consoles in the dust.
A lot of older games run really well through compatibility layers. Here is someone running Half-Life 2 in Parallels (9:20) on M1/M2 at 60FPS:

If it's between not having support at all and a low-effort compatibility layer version, the latter is the better option. The Steam Deck has over 8,000 games due to using compatibility layers.

Diablo IV runs around 90FPS on M2 Max with the porting kit:

Parallels is awesome for some games but not all. But it’s still not a Mac game is it? It’s a Windows game running on Windows on a Mac.

    we NEED native games.
