Apple turns off data protection in the UK rather than comply with backdoor mandate
Sweet. No all we need to do is hack every politician’s iCloud account and distribute all their photos and notes and search history so that they then realise they were not intelligent and the UK gets security again.
How long before the US refuses to do business with the UK because they can’t trust dealing with a country without security? -
Apple could have sold me an iPhone SE 4, but it won't sell me the iPhone 16e
The “e” clearly means “Entry” and as such will have less features than the more expensive versions. But the difference between the 16e and the SE is that it has the exact same processor as the CURRENT range. That’s where the cost increase is. The SE range all have one or two (more likely three or four due to upgrade cycles) versions prior which is where the cost savings come in.
So the reality is that the 16e is not the replacement to the SE but is in fact a new device to allow entry into the latest range while sacrificing some features that aren’t actually that important anyway. I have the 13 Mini and I use a Qi charger in my ute but all other times I use the cable.
Personally, if I was going to replace my 13 Mini I’d love to have a Pro Max but I’d be able to afford the 16e and feel good that I’m not sacrificing processing power. -
Apple's new research study is the most ambitious one yet
byronl said:Why is it US only? They could gather much more data if they allowed more regions. My guess is regulations?
This is the problem with modern science it seems. Everything is so insular the datasets are kind of pathetic. The entire nutritional science industry is based on the Atwater System which has a dataset of 3 fit young white guys.
Why wouldn't you take the opportunity to get a worldwide dataset going based on opt-in data from Apple users around the world? I'd be in like Flynn. -
After strong earnings, Morgan Stanley inches up AAPL target to $275

This is why I dislike the stock market. They never seem to trade on actual data just on rumours and intents. Why is Microsoft's stock more than Apple's when Apple is clearly doing better than M$? The Surface is down, Windows is still full of holes, and feature roll-backs in Windows are more than ever it seems? And yet, Apple delivers time and time again and gets shafted by the likes of Morgan Stanley?

Oscars snub Apple TV+ movies, and Apple no longer cares
Why put all that money into a rigged award system when you can put all that money into making great movies and TV?
I can tell you how many movies I’ve watched because they won an Oscar… ZERO.
I can’t tell you how many movies I’ve seen that I enjoyed just by stumbling across them in a streaming service because there’s too many.
The Oscars are a waste of good money and are nothing more than a tax dodge.
