  • Health-focused Apple Watch has bands made of harmful 'forever chemicals'

Weirdly enough my watch band on my Series 3 was a starting to cause me irritation on my right wrist where I normally have my watch. It’s got so bad I’ve moved my watch to my left wrist and now my right wrist is pretty much back to normal.

I just assumed it’s because I’m wearing a 3rd generation watch and that it’s most likely picked up some sort of irritant along the years.

But I’m not going to blame Apple for something that it might not even be able to do at the moment. Apple often reaches the limits of production and technology leading them to research their own methods - why do you think they went the M series route over sticking it out with Intel.

You can only make products out of materials you have on hand. If Apple upped the prices on Watch bands because they chose to only go natural products they’d probably get a class action lawsuit filed against them for rorting the customer on Watch bands.

Just take some person responsibility people. If your band is irritating your skin, get one that doesn’t.

Im not from the US, is it possible to bring a class action lawsuit against stupid people who file needless class action lawsuits?

  • Newly-appointed Apple CFO denies 75% App Store profit claim in UK trial

I’d fire that accountant. If he can’t work out that 30c for every dollar a developer makes isn’t 75% he’s in the wrong business.

I mean my maths is pretty woeful but not that woeful.

  • Here are the most likely TikTok alternatives, should it get banned

So technically there ISN'T an alternative to a company that scams your data and offers you a feed full of crud you don't want in order to keep you on the platform so they can scam more data off you. Because from that list that's exactly how ALL those "alternatives" operate.

  • Apple's bad blood with Nvidia continues, after decades of fighting

Won’t work for AI. AI workloads are often memory bandwidth constrained. That’s why NVIDIA bought a networking gear company to make proprietary connections between servers in a pod. The upcoming 5090 is still a consumer device and has 1,792 GB/s of memory bandwidth. An M4 in an iPad or base MacBook Pro has 120 GB/s. And much much worse is the slow gigabit Ethernet of (1Gb/s is 0.125 GB/s). Even if you use 10Gb Ethernet you are still getting about 1.25 GB/s. Thunderbolt 5 networking would be better. So would custom networking like 400 Gb/s Ethernet on servers Tesla is using with a stripped down and incompatible TCP/IP to improve bandwidth and latency. It’s really hard to get the bandwidth you need, even inside a server rack, with specialized kit. Consumer stuff is just too darn slow.
I don't agree that it won't work. Remember when at one stage the most powerful super computer on the planet was a grid array of over 1000 Mac Minis a few years ago? Now imagine that spread over the entire planet on every Mac, iPhone, iPad that can run Apple Intelligence. It has potential.

It makes me feel that Apple Server might make a resurgence. I don’t mean in a specific Xserve type arrangement but that features in the server OS might come back to macOS. If you could Xgrid a server farm of say 100 M4 Ultra Mac Pros or Mac Studios then you’d have a great start to pumping AI capabilities.

Apple has most of the tech available, it just needs consumer buy in. I’m sure they could spin it easy enough to make us realise we wanted it anyway.
