  • Apple has two big CarPlay problems

I’ve had cars with CarPlay since about 2015 or so. It’s always been more trouble than it’s worth. I’ve also driven some cars with wireless CarPlay. So far I found that to be unreliable.  I have a 2021 palisade and a 2022 Kia carnival. The latter is absolutely top of the line. It’s still doesn’t have wireless CarPlay. On the other hand, it doesn’t really need it. I use my phone for navigation in both cars. I just bought a new MagSafe charger/mount. That works great.

I actually don’t think that Apple has that much incentive to constantly update CarPlay. I think the entire project serves as a foundation for releasing their own car in a few years.  Past is prologue here, so we can expect them to release an electric vehicle that redefines the space. At a premium price.

  • AppleTogether asks about Apple's union busting for possible class action suit

The workers can unionize if they wish, but they are seriously misguided in doing so.  It will lead to fewer jobs and more restrictions.  That may not have been the case with the meat packing plant 50 years ago, or the copper mine 100 years ago.  But it's the case now.  Apple will not tolerate stores that fall under certain profit margins and sales figures.  They will be reorganized or even closed.

Edit:  As for union busting, they are going to have a tough plow in portraying "asking about support for a union" and "Apple making anti-union comments in meetings" as coercion.  Apple is allowed to share its point of view.  That is, unless there is real pressure being applied in violation of the law.

On a personal note, I wonder if there is any more annoying group than "Apple Together."

  • Apple unveils trailer for Will Smith movie 'Emancipation'

Sounds like they’re really trying to punch up the PR.

    I’ll be here all week…

  • Foxconn reportedly downplayed severity of recent COVID outbreak

People still think this is about a virus.  “Severity” of the outbreak “could have been controlled.”   Let’s stop there, because it’s all nonsense.  Covid can’t be controlled.  It’s endemic and highly transmissible.  It’s also mutated to be the equivalent of a bad cold.

China is quarantining and going full 1984 Dystopia because Covid is just the excuse to do so.  They are rounding up people over Covid and taking them to camps.  They have constant surveillance testing.  They lock down cities of millions because of a handful of cases.   They have a social credit system that makes that episode of Black Mirror look like a picnic.  Xi just had the former president purged on camera.  They will soon move on Taiwan.

So no.  It’s not about a virus.  It’s about the CCP.

  • iOS 16.1.1 update expected soon with Emergency SOS via Satellite, bug fixes

Maybe I won’t have to restart my phone every morning because.. while it’s connected to Wi-Fi, it says no Internet connection.
