I mean, if this is a rando person with this opinion, I get it.  Heck, I share some of that sentiment.  But when you design for Tesla?  Good lord.  Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.  Granted, Apple hasn't released a truly new and major product category of hardware in a while (arguably the AirPods in 2016, or the Watch in 2015.  But they've done other hardware things, like MagSafe, Apple Silicon.  They've continually improved performance.  They launched Apple TV+, which has become quite successful.  He's either saying this for competitive reasons/bragging rights/marketing, or he's just bitching that he doesn't have the same feeling he did when Apple was going from PowerBook G3s to G4's, or introducing the G5 or Intel transition.  Hard to match the original iPhone and Steve Jobs RDF.   Well guess what? This isn't 2002.  Apple has released three products that essentially changed the world in the last 20 years....the iPod, the iPhone and the iPad.  That's not to mention the entire concept of App Stores.  He's either a corporate whore or just a dolt.  Maybe both.  

OK, I'm going to go full, old-school, trashing mode here:  [rant] 

These things are HIDEOUS in every respect.  They are so ugly I almost can't believe they are real.  The puke mauve color, the spider eyes-looking cameras.  The camera bump on the Plus.  The fact that the Ultra has FIVE cameras and an LED.  I feel like I'm reading this Onion article (NSFW) on how many blades they can fit into a razor.   .  Right now, there is probably a Samsung executive pounding on the table, yelling "For the S23 next year, I want more cameras!!! I want to see at least six...no....7.....aww hell, 10 cameras!  And four LEDS! And I want more innovative colors like this puke mauve we're showing.  I'm thinking pea soup green, loose crap brown, and uncomfortable shades of off-white.  You want innovation? Here's something new.....a beige S23 Ultra.  I know, I know! You're speechless. Now get back in your cubicles and make it happen, nerds! I don't pay you 6 cents an hour to sit around.  I demand these products are spec-whored to death!  I want 32 GB of RAM and 2 TB of storage! And 16K resolution screens with 10,000mAh batteries!  Get on it!

My phone has been doing this since I had an iPhone 6.   It was really bad on the 7, the 10, etc.  I have a 12 Pro Max now and it does dim from time to time, usually under processing load.  I HATE this "feature."  Hate.  It hasn't happened on my new MacBook 14 inch, yet.
