  • Apple might introduce new 'High Power Mode' for Mac

So is this only going to be Laptop thing ie it's an acknowledgement you are using on a stand and burn stuff if the casing gets hot or is going to be Desktops as well and fans are going to get loud thing.

Even if they do let the machine get a lot hotter they'll be watching for heat build up and switch it off.
Seems likely to be for laptops. Are desktops throttled beyond reaching their thermal limits given they're always connected to power? Seems silly if so.
It's not an acknowledgement of any such thing.  I have a mid-2015 MBP that is on power adapter 90% of the time.  It never gets so hot as to "burn stuff."  This wasn't even acknowledged back in the old aluminum PowerBook days, when we literally had to use laptop cooling pads when playing games.

It also would make no sense on a desktop.  And who is switching something off...the user or Apple?

  • iPhone 13 A15 benchmarks reveal 21% CPU speed gain over iPhone 12

Cool.  Now, does the damn screen dim under load and/or heat so that amazing CPU performance is often useless?  Asking for a friend.

  • Original iPad mini versus iPad mini 6 - how far we've come

I had an iPad mini and an iPad mini 2. It was a massive difference just between those two models. Totally agree with the comments about the display.  The original was horrendous compared to just one generation later.  I now have an Air 4, and I have zero complaints.
"Horrendous," nothing like a bit of hyperbole, no?  ;)

The v1 mini was a lovely device, yes v2's display was improved, but the form factor was nicer in v1, thinner, lighter, nicer in the hand.

The new mini probably should have been reassigned to be part of the 'Air' line, seems a very solid upgrade, might pair well with a new iPhone 13 mini, no?
I said horrendous as compared to the first.

If you’re going to take issue with my comment, at least include the full context. And no, I don’t think it’s hyperbole.  The mini 2 was also all around a much better device.
    Still hyperbole with context.
Well, whatever you think. I owned both and the difference was pretty amazing. I’m not saying the iPad mini was a bad product. But next to the second generation it doesn’t compare.

Now, for what it’s worth, my iPad mini 2 suffered a really weird demise. It would display zero charge at random times and not seem to hold a charge.  I never found a solution.

  • iPhone 13 models thicker and heavier, TrueDepth notch slightly taller than iPhone 12 lineu...

While not a significant change from last year's lineup, the weight gain might be noticeable for owners who carry their device in pockets or small bags.

That's ridiculous. The biggest weight change is 1/2 an ounce, or 14 grams.  No way someone can tell that kind of a difference in a bag or pocket.  One might feel the difference if picking up the phones with no cases. Though, such differences are likely not even detectable according to Weber's Law.  It's not a hard and fast rule, but generally people won't notice less than a 10% difference in weight.  The point is that adding a bag or pocket to to equation completely blows the argument out of then water.
