Desktop Mac buyer's guide: which Mac to buy in early 2025
Genuinely interested in which iteration of any like for like Apple silicon would be compelling enough to upgrade.
Right now my M1 Max Studio does what I need, flawlessly. There’s nothing from the M4 Max that has me considering an upgrade. I know the day will come, but when? M7 Max? M10 Max?
So far the upgrades appear to be nice spec bumps but little more except to the power user… which I am not. Just a Logic hobbyist. -
Apple CEO Tim Cook congratulates Trump on his second election win
He may be a bit of a loose canon (understatement) but not everything his administration touches was bad. In this instance alone there was tremendous benefit to those non executives from Apple and several larger US companiesThe Tax Cuts and Job Acts from 2017 (2018?)

allowed for the repatriation of Billions of dollars. Apple was one of several fortune 100 companies to make use of that in tangible ways for current employees.Don’t give me that it was only so that “millionaires could pay millionaires” BS either. I’m sure some did benefit, but I also know of wayyyyy too many rank and file from some of those large corporations who have benefited directly from this bill - they got an extra holiday others got standing bonus and other perks as result of this repatriating of money. -
Siri is reborn in iOS 18 -- everything Apple's voice assistant will be able to do
One of the greatest features AI or Apple could provide for the mail app is a WORKING rule/filter/ intelligent ‘look’ at spam email.
When it’s plain as day to any actual person looking at the subject line, sender, or brief 3 word ‘glance’ at the content of the email and it still can’t be picked up by rule, junk filter or whatever mail app tool is being utilized? It’s highly irritating if not infuriating that this still needs manual deleting it move to trash or even move to junk folder. Adjusted the settings several times to no avail.

California man uses AirTag to confront thief who stole his BMW
Sooooo, how exactly was this ‘thief’ able to steal the car without a key? BMWs have either had custom keys replaceable only by dealers or the new-ish key fobs w remote or electronic starts.LONG gone are the days of hot wiring the cars.Or did the ‘tracker’ lose track of his key?Something doesn’t seem quite heroic as much as foolhardy followed by CYA for “I left my car fob on the table at Starbucks and forgot it when I left…” -
AT&T will pay a miserly $5 per account in outage compensation
I’m sure some actuaries somewhere calculated the $5 and felt that was fair when factoring in all the class action lawyerly nonsense. I’m fine with $5 per line.
However, accounts are NOT customers. The 7 people on my acct all lost service. Aren’t they entitled to some form of relief? Each of those lines run $35/mo.
Even if the compensation is a paltry $5 per line, that would seem to be a fair preemptive arrangement and reduce the likelihood of a class action settlement significantly more than the $5 per acct.
