  • AT&T will pay a miserly $5 per account in outage compensation

I’m sure some actuaries somewhere calculated the $5 and felt that was fair when factoring in all the class action lawyerly nonsense.  I’m fine with $5 per line.

However, accounts are NOT customers.  The 7 people on my acct all lost service.  Aren’t they entitled to some form of relief?  Each of those lines run $35/mo.

Even if the compensation is a paltry $5 per line, that would seem to be a fair preemptive arrangement and reduce the likelihood of a class action settlement significantly more than the $5 per acct.

  • GM ditching Apple CarPlay is about money, not safety

No CarPlay is a dealbreaker for me regardless of make model etc.

That said, GMs observation that people still use their phones for certain tasks or better experience - spot on.

Siri still sucks big time when trying to find a location in maps, a specific album in Apple Music and I’ve completely given up trying to get Siri to dial the correct phone number.  All this attempted while I’m articulating clearly at stop lights etc and it’s less than a 50/50 proposition if Siri can get it right.

After 3-4-5 tries I’m picking up my phone to search the contact/address/phone # or music I want.  Not the ideal safe driving experience.

And no, I don’t have ANY hope that GM would have done this better, just saying CarPlay has its flaws and I’m fine w GM calling them out for them.

  • Giant 30-inch iMac, iPhone 15, OLED iPads: Apple's roadmap for 2023-2024

I must be missing something.  30" iMac just doesn't make much sense to me.  Trying really hard to figure out who is the target for this product? Seems as much of a niche market as the new Mac Pro would be.... very small market segment.

Internals the same as a studio? Monitor size (30" or 32") and maybe 6k being in their all-in-one as opposed to a Studio/mini setup?  At what cost? Wouldn't this approach Mac Pro territory?

Is the all-in-one concept worth that kind of premium over the Studio setup? I'm genuinely asking as I just don't see it.  Maybe the quality of the display alone is worth it.. we'll have to see, but I'm skeptical.

I've been extremely happy with the 3 iMacs I've owned over the last 16+ years.  But I sprung for Studio / Display setup last spring and I've never looked back, not a single regret.  It does everything I've asked of it.  Tucking the little silver Studio away on my desk and visually its not much different than any of my iMac setups.

  • Data about Apple's AR headset screens has been leaked

Still holding out hope Apple’s offering looks NOTHING like the renderings and current offerings on the market.  All of them butt ugly, nasty devices I wouldn’t want to wear even if paid to do so.

Hoping for the original iPhone launch “wow factor” in that it looks and interacts like nothing else at the time.

    A guy can dream, right?

  • Apple will launch HomePod with 7-inch screen in 2024, says Kuo

Goofy combination to be honest.  Any form factor that doesn’t alter the sound imaging by obstructing the speaker?  I can’t get the image of a second gen iMac out of my head.
