  • Apple TV+ abandons Clooney and Pitt's 'Wolfs' sequel

It's hard to find original stories in movies nowadays, they all mirror older movies one way or another. Severance and Ted Lasso were great, but the others like Mosquito Coast and Silo had bad acting and felt amateurish. Anyway I know it's all subjective I know.

  • US government steps up oversight of Apple Pay and rivals

I had never felt so protected from late or missed payments as when using ApplePay, even my bank tries to sneak in a dollar here or there. ApplePay is my preferred payment method by far. The US Consumer Financial "Protection" Bureau is just another financial arm that wants to feel legit and cash grab like the EU.
Who do you think pays the $90M? Us the consumers of course!

  • Apple has officially ended its butterfly keyboard repair program for MacBooks

I maybe one of the few users who preferred the butterfly over the scissors. The keys on the butterfly felt more stable and the keyboard more modern. I remember when I upgraded to the M2, the keyboard keys felt clunkier and more backlighting escaped from the edges of the keys.

  • Apple execs address Mac mini's hidden power button in 2024 redesign

Apple's 2024 Mac mini stashes the power button underneath, a bold stupid move that executives say aligns with user habits
access the button by tucking a finger underneath to press it as long as you’re a six year old child. Otherwise you have to pick the unit up.
They are trying to put a shine on a turd. This was a stupid design choice that goes against best practices and will waste electricity. So much for Apple trying to act like they keep the environment in focus.

Design is based on research and the result clearly points to it not being necessary. There'll always be a group who disagree, but that's typically because they have not adopted to newer options. The same sentiment happened when Apple removed the headphone jack, or the ability to swap the iPhone battery, or removed the iPhones Home button...
Are you genuinely trying to say Apple does market research on their designs?
    Did the public clamor for:
Removal of floppy drives?  Optical drives? A round hockey-puck mouse? A limited expansion garbage can "Pro" computer design?  Putting a charge port on the bottom of a mouse?  A keyboard design which just didn't work in the real world?  $700 wheels for a computer?

Did Apple use research focus groups for these and their multitude of other boondoggles?

Of course not!  Apple does what Apple wants to do - consumer be damned!  and they rarely, VERY rarely, admit to a design faux-pas.  Apple epitomizes autocratic, form-over-function mentality...  and has enough zealots who will support their every stupidity to let them continue thinking they are brilliant visionaries.
Yes and there’s a reason for all, it’s tech moving forward. The floppy was dying, the iMac was an internet focused device. Some failed of course, like the hockey puck but others are still around for reasons that will surprise you, like the charge port on the Magic Mouse.
Sometimes design is made to break a habit or prevent an undesirable one, like keeping a wireless mouse connected with a USB cable.
