  • Mockup of next-gen iPad Pro hints at in-bezel TrueDepth integration

Why do case makers produce such chunky, clunkly looking cases that remove any sense of niceness from the orginal device?

Then make it worse by feeling the need to release mock ups before the event.
So you don’t destroy your $700 iPad Pro if it falls? I bought a chunky case (with an integrated Apple Pencil holder) to protect the 2018 9.7-inch iPad that my kids share. It goes through hell, but the iPad is unscathed.

If if you want slim cases, they make those too...

  • ARM processor for Macs coming in 2020 or 2021, Apple car in 2023 says Ming-Chi Kuo

I expect Apple is more interested in transportation as a service, rather than a car to sell to an individual.   There’s a lot of room for Apple to develop services around such an offering as a relates to the ease of use their clientele expect.
The reason I don’t use Uber, Lyft, taxis or buses is the same reason I like having my own car. I’m an adult who can afford it and using any of those alternatives usually involves a dirty, smelly or slow vehicle.
What do you do on business/vacation? I work from home and drive myself 99% of the time, but for the handful of times that I have to fly around the country for work, I rely on Uber/Lyft. It's convenient, fast and gets the job done.

  • How to choose between stainless steel vs aluminum Apple Watches

Stainless steel has sapphire glass -- decision made. The glass on my Series 0 Sport looked like garbage after a few months and I even managed to chip it with a slight bump up against an exterior wall. I'm currently on a Series 2 stainless steel and this thing is virtually indestructible. I can't find ANY signs of wear or abuse on the screen. No scratches, abrasions, chips, marks -- nothing.

I took a quick glance at my wife's Series 1 Sport last while it was on the charger and hers is littered with tiny scratches all over the watch face, and she's only had it since April. I really wish that Apple would make Sapphire standard across the board -- really sucks that I have to put up $700 just to get stainless steel, and I don't even want the LTE. I'll probably just buying it second-hand like I did my current Series 2. Let some other poor sap take the depreciation hit.

  • iPhone XS, XS Max, XR Battery sizes, RAM revealed by Chinese regulator

I don’t understand how the LCD should account for the longer battery life in the XR as opposed to the OLED. I thought the whole point of OLES (or at least one of the major ones) is the absence of the backlight Illini sting only the “non black pixels” and thus saving significant power?
Oled itself is power hungry, the reason it can be a battery saver is if the user consistently opts to keep as mug of the screen as black as possible.
Given this point, why doesn't Apple provide a "true" Dark Mode for iOS like it does in the upcoming release of macOS?

  • iPhone XS LTE speeds up to 266 percent faster than iPhone X, early test reveals

Not seeing what the big deal is. I’m outside Raleigh, NC and even on a regular day I get these speeds close to this with my iPhone X:
