How Apple Silicon on a M1 Mac changes monitor support and what you can connect
neilm said:Very surprised the M1 MBP can only support a single external monitor. Probably half our current MBP users have a dual monitor setup, usually a pair of 4K, in addition to the built in display. This limitation takes the M1 off my list.Clearly it’s not an inherent limitation of the M1 GPU, since the M1 mini can drive dual monitors.
I also hope it will come with more than 2 TB ports. I'm all in on TB3 and USB-C connectors, but only two of them isn't enough. The mini does have two additional USB-A ports and HDMI, but it's still a bit annoying to only have the two TB ports. -
Apple Silicon M1 Macs do not support eGPUs
22july2013 said:This makes you wonder if Apple Silicon Mac Pros will also prohibit eGPUs. Or even internal GPUs on expansion cards.
I'd like to see it included when the 16" MBP transitions, but I'd also like to see more ports, especially on the 16"/ (By which I mean the 4 ports they currently have. Two ports is just a bit too far.) -
Apple introduces new Apple Silicon Mac mini with $699 price tag
22july2013 said:I guess I was right, in my posts on this website. The Mac Mini would be one of the first Apple Silicon Macs. I don't recall anyone else predicting that. Yay me!
Plus, upgrading the RAM means it takes a week longer to get here.
I do have a slight concern about the lack of ports on these new Macs. I think 4 was a sweet spot, and two is kind of a problem. Once you plug in your dock, that's pretty much it, and I'm disappointed in the number of ports in the available TB docks, although once the TB4 ones become available, that should help.

Apple announces Apple Silicon Mac special event for November 10
tshapi said:melgross said:The date is interesting because all the pundits have been giving reasons why Nov 10 wouldn’t be possible, why it just HAD to be the 17th.
I hadn't heard of anyone being insistent that it couldn't be the 10th, but I'm not really in any of the loops at the moment. I don't even listen to tech podcasts just now, because theyve all been more or less the same for so long.
Fingers crossed for a Mac mini.
