    cpu has only doubled in performance?

    in 8yrs?

    it also had a removable battery and could run without if in on live power. which i often did to improve cooling in summer.

    i was a 17” owner back in the day. mine died hard, it was a sad day .

    i for one will be interested to see the internal comms disclosed regarding the matter.

    sadly i feel it will show that the company was well aware and did continue to sell and promote; however i doubt it will show the overall design to be defective, rather not ideal for real world usage.

    Sounds interesting, but Tim C seems far too humble to allow such a thing.
    and some would rightly suggest Tim C was more important than Jony. You can design all you like, but it is Tim’s legendary skills in supply chain, inventory and JIT that powered the financial growth of Apple.

    unwary users equals me almost daily when watching video and trying to change the volume - and pressing the volume pushes the phone down which then presses the power button and the phone is off.

    which is made worse because stupid facd id cannot work in landscape, so i have to then turn the phone around to unlock it, restart the video and go back to landscape.

    there are so many dumb ass design choices in this world i am led to wonder if in the case of iphone if apple staff actually use the device.

    would not anyone in the monday meeting be like “seriously x is so damn annoying”.

    Because the stock model won't come with Mac firmware and as a result you won't have a boot screen unless you flash the card or you keep the card that comes with the Mac Pro and use it when you need boot options. Also, I don't think you can use FileVault without a card running Mac firmware.
    why do you think Apple keeps boot options on the video card?
