There's a lot I dislike about meta and facebook, but I fully support removing AI writing. I don't want to read generic AI writing. I want to read things in my friends' own words.

This is the type of thing large businesses like to do because on paper, it's great. They get all the control and can provide any experience they like without being beholden to a third party. The sticking point is that software will likely be a commodity to them, and they'll never do a good job at it because they won't invest in it. When they learn that it's a big enough differentiator and people stop buying their cars, they'll switch back to Apple/Google software. 

The M1 Pro is amazing. I don't really do much video or AR work, so I didn't spring for the Max, but it's truly amazing what it can do. I've never had a computer double its battery life while staying roughly the same size. It's also so much more pleasant to use a computer that doesn't feel like a frying pan and sound like a wind tunnel.

There's nothing wrong with what Apple is doing, at least in a capitalist culture. Once a company get too big and gets too much pricing power, then it's the government's job to step in and even the playing field. Apple is functioning correctly; the government is not.
