Comparing the new 2018 12.9-inch iPad Pro versus the older model
Never have I been more impressed by a device, and seen no need for it. I have a 9.7" iPad Pro that I use for browsing the web on the couch. The new iPad is definitely something that I want, but without a way for me to use all that power, I can't see how it would improve my experience except for the larger screen.
In another world (or maybe in a future world), it would be the ultimate computer, effortlessly switching between a computer and an iPad. Right now, I think the Verge said it best: It's like a high-speed train on rails, but chances are it's not going someplace useful to the average person. -

iPhone XR demand reportedly forcing Apple to cut production expansion plans
The trouble with crap like this is that we have no idea if it's true (reports like this tend to be 50/50), so we just impart our personal experience and opinions to decide what to believe. It reminds me of a Colbert quote, which (badly paraphrased) is, "I don't care about facts. Facts change. But my opinions will never change, no matter what the facts are." -
Tim Cook lambastes Bloomberg for iCloud spy chip report, calls for retraction
Geez, I don't think I've ever heard of a story that has so many huge companies and government agencies publicly be so clear that they know nothing about the story. What's even odder is that Bloomberg doesn't have one verifiable source of evidence, just an endless stream of confidential sources.
I'm sure they conducted a lot of interviews, but it sounds like they used glue and guesswork to construct this crazy story out of half truths and rumors. They must have convinced themselves, though. -
Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 980 more than a year behind Apple's A12 Bionic in performance
Apple's chips are amazing. I think the challenge for Apple is figuring out how to do something with that power that otherwise would not have been possible. I just bought an iPhone XS from an iPhone 7, and I honestly don't notice any speed difference, mostly because the iPhone 7 was already very fast, especially with iOS 12.
