  • iPhone X impresses Windows executive, Android fans but bitter bloggers still hating

I have to admit that I doubted that Apple could sell such an expensive phone, but clearly the price is right enough. I do wonder, though, how expensive an iPhone would have to be before it would stop selling in large numbers.

  • Tip: Convert physical Blu-ray and DVD discs to iTunes with Vudu and Movies Anywhere

I don't get this. This seems too good to be true. I have literally a hundred plus DVDs and Blu-rays that I'd gladly convert, but without a way to verify ownership, this seems like it's going to have some huge downside.

  • Apple allowed Uber use of API to record iPhone screens, feature to be removed

I'm unclear on what was allowed. If this was used to render maps while Uber was in the background, then the frame buffer of the current screen would not show maps. It seems more likely, based on the purpose and on Apple's security focus, that Uber was allowed access to create a frame buffer of a view within the app while it was in the background, then send that view to the watch. That's pretty different from allowing access to a live video of whatever else the user was doing.

  • How to ditch bad Wi-Fi info so Apple Watch Series 3 with cellular has better connectivity

One of the things that drives me absolutely crazy about the iPhone is how it holds on to Wi-Fi networks with a weak signal and network connectivity just fails. It won’t switch to LTE but the Wi-Fi signal is too weak for anything to work. So I have to manually turn off Wi-Fi and wait for it switch over. It’s been this way for years.  I don’t understand why iOS doesn’t drop these weak Wi-Fi signals sooner or at least give the user a setting to drop Wi-Fi and switch to LTE when signal strength is less than x.
Am I wrong, but didn't they add that in IOS 10, when a wifi network goes to bad speed, it automatically switched. Obviously needed to turn it on, but didn't it even start a controversy last year?
Yes, Apple tried to more aggressively switch to cellular. They got sued for wasting people's data. It just goes to show that you're going to make someone mad no matter what you do.

  • watchOS 4 no longer lets you browse iPhone music library on your Apple Watch

This absolutely infuriates me. I used this function as a remote control for my iPhone on a daily basis since it was quicker to pause and advance music than unlocking the iPhone. I also use this on long flights to listen to my music library without having to have my iPhone out. I've just changed my mind on Apple Watch 3. I'm not particularly enthused about paying at least $10/month for cellular so was going to grab a wifi only Watch 3. Not anymore. Why on earth did they remove this functionality and not move it somewhere else, such as the remote app. Bad, bad move Apple.

I don't think this article explains the change as well as it could. I have Watch OS 4, and I use it to play, pause, and advance music on my iPhone all the time. In fact, in Watch OS 4, it automatically goes to the correct screen when you play music from your phone.

What this refers to is if you are storing music on your Apple Watch, and you go to the Watch's music app (looks like an iTunes logo), everything in that music app is just stuff stored locally. If you start a playlist from your iPhone, you'll still have all the remote controls available.
