  • T-Mobile CEO 'sorry' for data breach that affected 54 million users

Security is not an end-game.  It's whack-a-mole and one will always have to stay on top of it.  Get sloppy and complacent then this happens.

What's insulting is that this is not the first time for T-Mobile.  It's obvious the CEO is not taking this seriously and should be FIRED, not "resign".

The CEO's arrogance is astounding.  When things are good, it's because of the CEO.  When things are bad, it's someone else's problem.  Screw him.  Fire him.

  • Bill Maher declares Apple CSAM tools a 'blatant constitutional breach'

    Am I missing something here?

All the rhetoric about Apple installing spyware on iPhones is confusing me.  From everything I have read, Apple is only scanning cloud data.  If you store child-porn on your iPhone, nothing happens.  If you store it in iCloud, then that's where all this CSAM happens.  That is nothing different than what other cloud providers are doing.  Don't want your data scanned?  Don't put it on the servers of other companies.

Have you ever placed your personal belongings in those storage garages?  I have.  Part of the rental agreement is that they can enter your storage locker/garage if they suspect something is going on in there.  Why hasn't anyone raised a stink about that?  The point is, if you don't want anyone sniffing around your stuff then keep it with you or in your house.  Don't store stuff elsewhere that others have access to.  Duh.

  • China passes the world's strictest user data protection law

I find it ironic that the Chinese government demands strict data privacy from Chinese companies, yet turns right around and essentially breaches all of that to spy on its own citizens, not to mention the entire world.

  • AirTag helps find stolen motorcycle, may have acted as a deterrent

Theres a lot of reasons why the thieves abandoned it.  Perhaps they were just unable to start the engine.

Many years ago I've had my motorcycle stolen only to find it right around the block.  They couldn't disable the ignition lock and just left it there.

That being said, I purchased six AirTags and recently used four of them in luggage on an overseas trip.  It was pretty amazing having the ability to monitor where my luggage was in the airport.  My plan is to attach some to some high-value items in the event they're stolen.

AirTags will be huge once it hits critical-mass.

$80 a year for Windows is to [sic] much!

It was going so well, till they mentioned it’s a subscription service fee! No way is this worth paying 80 dollars or pounds EVERY year for! They’ve seriously miscalculated their market with that.
I agree. Good thing it only costs $49.99 to renew annually.
I’m using a version of Fusion that is years old. Why on earth would I want to pay them 50 bucks every year for software I already purchased? Renting software is a scam for many/most consumers, who simply don’t need the latest and greatest every single month or year.
VMWare Fusion is a necessity for me and my job.  Considering the fantastic support I've received from them, I continue to gladly pay/support the package for $50.  I'm able to generate much more revenue and my support will hopefully mean they will continue keeping Fusion for years to come, knowing that Intel business will slow down for them.
