  • EU will force Apple to totally expose its iPhone features to all who ask

"The European Commission is forcing new rules on Apple -- and only Apple" - huh? Every Gatekeeper in EU has to abide by the rules. Apple thinks it is uniquely exempt from the law, so the EU worked with Apple, and competitors, to assist Apple to understand what it would need to do to comply. Whether or not Apple likes those rules, or whether Apple InCider likes those rules, is immaterial; if you want to do business in the EU, obey EU law. If I want to do business in the USA, I must obey US law - I'm sure even Mr Trump would agree. Why should Apple be above the law of 27 nations?
I think the more appropriate question is how specifically has Apple’s behavior harmed the consumer?  If we hypothetically look at EU companies like car manufacturers or even tech companies like ARM, why doesn’t ARM release its IP to competitors like Intel or AMD? Isn’t the consumer harmed that only ARM’s technology is powering Apple’s devices and therefore the consumer is hostage to whatever ARM licenses to Apple? Why can’t Ford get proprietary technology from Mercedes or Audi in the EU? Doesn’t that harm the consumer that they have to buy a Mercedes to get their technology?
In the United States, GM and Ford have a case if you base it on what the EU is currently doing…..
Yes, but to be fair, let’s keep it in the EU. What can they do over there to enforce the laws on their own companies to make sure Ford, and GM can get
acces to EU automaker’s proprietary technology to keep everything fair?

Has the European Commission ever released a report on how many smaller competitors that are not Epic or Spotify are harmed by Apple specifically by anti-competitive practices and not by bad business decisions?  I remember some dating apps that were joining with Epic in Europe, but I haven’t seen any examples in these articles where there is some factual evidence that legitimate anti-competitive practices from Apple has harmed a small competitor from making a service or product and the consumer would also be harmed.

I understand Sherlocking, and I’m no fan of Apple doing that, but I would like to see if Appleinsider has ever seen a report that has legitimate evidence that this draconian behavior has bore fruit that has benefited the customer.

  • Calls for Tim Cook's resignation over Apple Intelligence miss that he has made Apple what ...

I think part of this overblown outrage is because of Apple violating its own rule about not talking about unreleased products.

The Siri ad for Apple intelligence reminded me of the old 80’s AT&T ad where they showed you the future of technology with video phones and other things that weren’t available yet. If Apple didn’t mention Siri yet, and to not go ahead and make ads highlighting that feature, there wouldn’t be this outrage in the tech community that seems to always be flung at Apple, but others who do the same thing get a pass.

What’s more important is how the new Macs and iPads will be able to address AI and how apps that you use right now, can work better for you and help you accomplish what you want in a shorter amount of time.

  • Apple is lying about Apple Intelligence, John Gruber says -- and he's right

If anyone ever used HomeKit and had a hub, they kinda knew the AI Siri part was complete bullshit. There’s no way they could have gotten everything together in this short time AND fixed the bugs that Homekit has with Siri being intertwined.

One big challenge is how Apple uses privacy with its services. They strip out identifying things when collecting data, which makes things much more complicated when trying to create data lakes to be used in AI.

There’s no way that Siri ships with the features Apple is touting until maybe the next iPhone cycle. There’s just too much stuff to fix. Craig is in charge and he should have been more forthcoming to Tim that this shit isn’t ready. Otherwise he’s gonna join his Next buddy Scott on the chopping block.
