I don’t doubt that Apple will get there. Qualcomm makes genuinely good hardware and have an absolute catalogue of patents.

Apple needs to work out how to build the modem without stepping on those and that is obviously proving very hard to do.

You need to take the cores themselves into account. The M3 Max has 12 performance cores vs the M2 Ultra’s 16.

Chuck in the newer design, higher clock speed, fabrication process, etc, and you get one hell of an impressive chip.

The M3 Max won’t beat the M2 ultra on everything, but it’s a brilliant jump up in performance.

I wonder if it will fix the issue where I tell Siri to turn off all lights and it starts asking me which light I want turned off “is that bedroom, lounge, study, playroom, spare room, or everywhere?” and when you answer it just keeps repeating the same damn question ad nauseam until you ignore it long enough or pull the plug.

I’d be happy for them to spend a whole year just on bug fixes.

Buying them isn't so easy.  TH ecurrent market cap for MASI is 4.3M.  Back in April it was 3 times as much.  Apple won't want to spend that for a measily O2 sensor.  So licensing would be the way to go if the gov't agrees with the ban.

4.3M USD? That’s barely a bonus payment to one of their top execs.
