  • iPhone 15 Pro again rumored to cost more than ever before

God I miss the days when the best iPhone Apple had to offer started at £619 instead of £1099 (iPhone 6S Plus vs iPhone 14 Pro Max).

By the sounds of it the starting price will likely hike to £1199 for the next model.

Sadly inflation is biting hard everywhere and Tim is going to want to maintain Apple’s legendary high margins, so the price has to go up.

  • New 15-inch MacBook Air sales are half the figure Apple expected

Tricked? lol. I have absolutely zero qualms with our recent 13” M2 MBA. The majority of Apple’s customers are not neckbeards or specs-mongers. I doubt many using a MBA M2 are tapping out its potential as a very portable, non-pro notebook.
Perhaps not, but consumers are not all stupid either. These are not cheap machines and people want the best bang for their buck. It’s not unusual for sales to slow down as the expectation of a refresh builds.
Stupidity has nothing to do with it. I don’t think many MBA customers are pushing the envelop on compute needs on their very-portable. Completely happy with ours and not taxing it whatsoever.
Let’s hypothesise that you are looking to replace an existing, albeit out of date, Mac.

If you knew that in 6 weeks a refreshed model would come out, likely at the same price as the current gen model, would you hold off?

I suspect that the vast majority would wait the 6 weeks. After all, unless you have no choice because your old computer has just died or something, why wouldn’t you wait and get the newer machine that will last you a year longer for the same price?

Obviously I do not know when the new model will come out, but it’s likely to be soon.

When I refer to people not being stupid I was not suggesting that someone who already owns an M2 MacBook Air was a fool. I was simply pointing out that most people, if they are aware a refresh is due soon, would not spend a significant amount of money on what is soon to be a last gen product.

My wife is the perfect target audience for this machine. The only problem is that they shipped it almost a year too late.

How many people have already bought the 13” that came out in July of last year?

They should have either released this at the same time or waited for the M3 refresh.

  • Base iPhone 15 models will get 48 megapixel cameras, says Kuo

This weird obssesion, this fetish with bigger and bigger cameras on phones, with truckloads of megapixels, just to take a pic of your cat,or a sloppy selfie, is getting out of hand already .

The camera on the original iPhone SE was more than enough. But nooo, snob teenagers want moar ,moar!
With respect, I disagree. The quality of photos from an iPhone really started being "good" from around the iPhone 6S and up, at least in my opinion. I have taken thousands of photos of my children growing up and of course I'll continue to take thousands more.

In the future, when I look back, I'll appreciate the extra quality that I got with each upgrade (roughly every 4 years for me). Comparing the pictures from my iPhone 4S to my iPhone 14 Pro Max is simply a night and day difference. Yes, the original iPhone SE had a pretty decent camera. But it cannot hold a candle to my current phone.
