I wish them luck with their fight. From what I have read, they've a genuine case here and Apple knows it.

If the opportunity is tempting enough the gaming companies will come.

In the G3-G5 days the Mac market share was insignificant and the effort needed to port games was great, so very few companies did it.

In the Intel days the market share was largely still small and the majority of the computers that Apple sold came with shitty integrated graphics that were not suitable for gaming.

Now every Mac sold is genuinely able to play AAA games and the market share is much larger than it was.

No, it won’t match a dedicated PC gaming rig, but most games sold on the PC are not played on those anyway.

I don’t game too often, two young kids and a hefty mortgage have seen to that. Still, I’ve very much enjoyed playing Baldur’s Gate 3 on my MacBook Pro recently and look forward to other releases in the future. if they’d not released it on the Mac I’d not have bought it.

Interesting that Apple is letting this run so close to the wire here. I guess they are playing hard arse to get a discounted settlement.

Such a shame they never worked out how to do 3D movies without the need for a stupid headset.

I was always very surprised that Apple dropped the cheapest CPU’s first and waited so long for the pro grade designs.

Presumably they needed to release in that order for the first couple of generations.

I’d not be surprised to see the M4 release as Pro and up with a delay on the base M4.

It does feel that they really nerfed the M3 Pro to further differentiate the Max and Ultra setups. Most benchmarks show that the M3 Pro is not much better than the M2 Pro (certain benchmarks such as those using Ray Tracing, etc, are outliers) whereas the M3 Max kills the M2 Max across the board.
