  • iPhone marketshare dips to 14.8% amid tougher Chinese competition, Gartner says

Perhaps its time to stop resting on Apple's laurels and make a new iPhone every year instead if every (snooze) two years?
What evidence is there that people want to buy a new phone every year? People don't buy new cars or furniture or appliances every year. Why does a phone need to look new every year? To me that's just change for change sake. Honestly I think slowing smartphone sales are more about maturing technology to the point where these devices are good enough. They're fast enough and the displays are high quality enough for what most people use them for. Other than cameras and battery life I'm not sure there's a lot of new technology that will make people want to buy a new phone every year. I'm not convinced that VR is going to be a mass market thing. Nothing that requires a big contraption on your face will.
Good counterpoint. However it only addresses former iPhone users. Apple needs to ramp up fresh models for switchers and virgin adopters, which happens to be a majority of the market.

  • Previewing Apple's WWDC 2016: Big news for iOS 10, iPhone 7, new iPad Pro

Good analysis! Is it just me or has iOS, OS X, and Apple's apps, become more fraught with bugs over time since Apple made them free? Like Apple Music hosing people's music libraries or OS X 10.10 crashing POP mailboxes? In addition to enhanced features Apple needs to redouble QC on all it's apps and OSes.

  • Foxconn & Pegatron kick off hiring early to cope with Apple's more complex 'iPhone 7' - report

Based on gossip I was ready to forgo iP 7 if it proved to be a half hearted upgrade. If it delivers innovations I'll upgrade to iP 7. If it's cosmetic, I won't.

  • 'Intentional' culture clash between Apple, Beats causes friction, aims to 'create something groundb

Wow, that's the first time I've seen Jimmy Iovine's name dropped on AI since he double-talked Tim Cook into overpaying for Beats. What did Apple expect when it mixed inner city rap impresarios with Silicon Valley wire-heads? Harmony and a good fit? Was the bad fit and disharmony really "intentional" or is that Apple's 20-20 hindsight PR spin? I bought every product Apple released until Beats. I didn't even try the "free" trial of Apple Music, which wreaked havoc with many users music libraries. It apparently wasn't very good out of the gate so now it's being relaunched. BTW, did anyone see that Pandora millennial commercial? Very poignant.
