  • FCC now collecting first-hand consumer data on broadband service, availability

I love that the ISP provided list shows me as having both Comcast and ADSL, while in reality I have access to neither (unless I pony up $15K USD to get Comcast to run a plant extension 0.4 miles).  Three different flavors of satellite and our county WISP (that can't pick up service either) round out their reported offerings.  This is why I used a succession of hotspots (EVDO->3G->LTE) and now use Starlink.

  • Apple TV+'s 'Ted Lasso' may only last three seasons

If they can keep the quality of season 1 in seasons 2 and 3 I will be more than satisfied.  I didn't expect to like Ted Lasso, but man am I glad that I gave it a watch.

  • Preorders for $1,099 iPhone 12 Pro Max now live

I just kept trying until I could get it, got punted out twice, then had to keep retrying checkout maybe 10 times before in completed, but both are ordered now.

  • Apple renews sports comedy 'Ted Lasso' for third season

Great!  We loved S01 and were stoked to hear it got the nod for S02.  I am sure that having approval for a third season really gives the writers some freedom to expand their storylines without worrying about getting the axe before they can wrap things up.

  • Starlink starts $99 per month 'Better than Nothing' internet service beta

I'm desperately waiting for StarLink to become available as I've been WFH for 6 months on Verizon LTE with two bars :(  There's no broadband available in this "remote" part of NC (less than 1/2hr away from Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill - the technology hub of NC :-(
Same here in the exurbs of Northern Virginia.  I am 52 miles from the White House and I have *zero* wired broadband options.  My county is backing p2p microwave, but somehow even 40' in the air they could not pick up signal from the three towers in my immediate area.  I am stuck using AT&T Unlimited hotspots with external antennas to enjoy some fraction of the broadband experience.  Speeds vary maybe 10Mbps-40Mbps but the ping can be anywhere from 30ms to 3000ms....  We stream without particular issues, but gaming can be awesome and then lag out causing wailing from the living room.  :D

    Starlink can't come soon enough!
