  • Here's what differentiates MLB on Apple TV+ versus regular broadcasts

I have kids who are in college athletics. Those who think athletes are overpaid have no idea what it takes to succeed in sports. Up at 5, 6 hours of training, always on the road, dealing with losses, coaches, crazy fans, getting school work done. It is a massive commitment for years and years. Same thing for pretty much most successful people - the band who has “overnight success” after years of playing every dump in the country, the startup where the founder was living in a tiny apartment for years eating ramen every day, coding while we all slept. Those who aspired to nothing, congrats you made it. Just stop trying to pull those who worked incredibly hard and sacrificed a lot to succeed, down with you with you dismissive “overpaid” whining.

  • Apple working on hardware subscription service for iPhone, other products

The biggest advantage would be carrier independence. Right now I am tied into my carrier and if I switch I have to pay the phone off right away. If I was renting the phone from Apple, I could switch at anytime as they don’t care which carrier I use. This a big win for customers. Second is that leasing a phone should be a lot cheaper than buying it as I never get to own the device (car lease payment vs buying a car payment).

  • How the 16-inch MacBook Pro with M1 Max replaced our Mac Pro

All of these improvements are is before the built-in GPU power is taken into account.”

    Would go with “are” personally.

Are these 5G phones being used with 5G plans?  Is 5G really a feature that people are upgrading for, or do the newer phones just happen to have 5G?  With the carriers charging more for 5G plans, I would be surprised to see people actually being able to use the 5G features.  Pretty much all of the people I know are upgrading to "get the new iPhone" or because their phone is broken, or a couple of years old.  Some upgrade for camera features, etc.  Don't know anyone who is looking for the 5G faster download, etc - especially if they have to change to a more expensive plan...
Yes, my wife and I will be trading in our iPhone 8’s for either the SE or 13 but will not be upgrading to 5G service. We simply don't see any need for it on a phone yet. And besides, as an AT&T customer, my iPhone 8 already has 5Ge. It says so right on the phone screen. Oh wait. /s
I have the 11 pro max and been getting 90 down and 20 up and just don’t see a compelling case to upgrade yet. For those who buy for the 5G, what is your use case? Totally get it for tech like life support in an ambulance connecting to the hospital to provide vital stats in real-time etc. But there is nothing yet that I do that remotely requires 5G. Carrier may come out with insane upgrade incentives but if not, I will keep this for another 3+ years I think.

  • Apple's M1 Ultra combines two M1 Max into a powerhouse chip

Err, ah, what was Intel babbling about catching up to and outperforming the M1?
Thankfully the rumors of an M2 chip with a marginally more powerful CPU (though more powerful GPU) did not pan out. This is a beast! Thinking of getting these for our office and then using the new 5G iPads to dial in with JumpDesktop when out of the office.
