  • Apple's biggest innovation of the last 25 years isn't the iPhone

What if a tree falls in the forest and nobody cares? The article is a product of a bygone age full of imaginary bogeymen and villains and Daniel cast as the one true believer!

  • Apple Maps still calls it the Gulf of Mexico, and politicians are upset

I find it all very entertaining.
One lot of yanks are currently overloaded with euphoria at the thought of a wrecking ball tearing the establishment down, the other lot are crying in their cups.

and why not call it the Gulf of America? It isn’t as though the left aren’t busy changing place names all the time.
oh good, know-nothings from the outside.
Let’s be honest, isn’t that every American tourist in Europe *ever*?

  • How to import your old passwords into the new Apple Passwords

Any number of instances. If you had to reboot your phone or faceID does not work (occasionally it will require me to reenter my password) and if it were recorded while out, criminals would have full access to any banking, investment and other private data in passwords. Once in they can also change the password unless you have setup a key to prevent it. Likely to happen? No but it does happen (WSJ had an article about a year ago of this happening) and family members or friends with addiction issues and access to your phone could steal your passwords etc and make it really hard for you to figure out how it was stolen. 1Password gives you options and one of those is a unique password to open the app. My losses if this were to happen to me are more than $3 per month so I pay it for the peace of mind.

  • Apple Intelligence has been seven years in the making, says Cook

I would say that Apple has exactly delivered a product for what they think their users to be judging by their commercials - stupid, lazy and ignorant. If this is the result of 7 years of work then there is little hope for much innovation from Apple on any front other than more iterative drips and drabs on iphone, watch and mac. No wonder they couldn't make a car or even a proper update to the Ultra watch line! The days of bold innovation seem to be behind them now. Hoping to be wrong though but don't find this encouraging at all.

  • Can Apple innovate if iPhone remains the biggest slice of its revenues?

I have a life so didn’t read much beyond the headline. The question though isn’t if Apple can innovate if the iPhone is the biggest part of their revenue, it is can Apple innovate to bring new features to the iPhone? It is iteration after iteration anger iteration. And features like Siri should have lead them to innovate AI features years before anyone else to make the iPhone (and other products that could use it) better. But just like they missed social media (what did they come out with, Ping?), they missed AI as well because they wanted to iterate Siri for another 20 years to the point it would one day finally same my name correctly /s. VisionOS, Project Titan and even DarkSky all show that Apple has no visionary driving the company in tech that people want, tech that is transformative. They just iterate, year in, year out. Milk the cash register and repeat.
