  • Apple cuts HomePod orders on weak demand, report says

It looks like I was right.
    No, you weren’t/aren’t.

Today's report failed to specify Apple's sales expectations for HomePod, nor did it assign a figure to the supposed order reduction.”

Like any of its products Apple does not provide anticipated unit sales. The ONLY guidance Apple provides is to revenue, gross margin, operating expense, OIE and tax rate. Nowhere in there is there any reference to unit sales of ANYTHING.

The ONLY entity that knows how many HomePods Apple has ordered, sold or expects to sell is Apple itself.  Apple will not share units sold data if and not until revenue from the product in question becomes material (5% of revenue).  That’s why we haven’t heard anything about Apple Watch results, and it has been selling for three years.

Anybody that hat expresses knowledge of these things is a liar. Period. Then we have Bloomberg’s track record for accuracy (not good ar all).

Anybody expressing that that they know more or better than Apple management is one of two things: delusional, or an Android shill masquerading as an Apple product user.

  • Mark Zuckerberg was ready to pounce on Apple's data practices at Senate hearing

The media covers this moronic non-story that is a bunch of politically overblown hype, meanwhile Congress has done exactly nothing over the Equifax hack which affected half the country in a very real way.

Insane idiots all of them. Across the board Term Limits now!
I’ve always felt Congressional hearings were nothing more than Congressional photo ops: producing little in the way of beneficial legislation and always positioning the politician as being on the right side of an issue (no matter his feelings on the subject).

  • Apple says male UK staff earn average of 5 percent more than women

It is MEANINGLESS to attempt to compare salaries in this way. If you want to know if there is truly any sort of wage gap, compare by job function. How much does the average male Software Engineer 2 (for instance) make? How much does the average female Software Engineer 2 make? I'd be willing to bet that the comparison is very close.

The so-called gender wage gap is really just a justification for hiring more women in senior roles.
Not knowing the complete data set articles/findings like this is meaningless.  But someone with an agenda will try to make something of it.

  • Apple planning to ditch Intel chips in Macs for its own custom silicon in 2020

The #1 selling Apple computer is the iPhone. Interaction (as referenced in the article) is most important between iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV and HomePod.

In terms of units sold Macs (which are mostly used by creative professionals and the enterprise) account for about 6% of total Apple devices sold. Moving away from Intel would be stupid unless Apple made a MAJOR leap in processor performance over Intel’s offerings. That leap would be necessary to justify the software upgrade cycle that would necessarily follow the change in processor architecture.  I don’t see this happening by 2020 or even 2030.

  • A big win for new affordable housing next to Apple Park

NIMBYs are the scourge of the earth. They are OK with development, as long as it happens somewhere else. A more elitist attitude can’t be found anywhere. The y exist because politicians’ desire for office outweighs serving the greater good.
