  • Apple's iPhone Fold is creeping closer - what the rumor mill says is coming

    Pema said:
Beating a dead donkey this is what this is. Another iPhone (yawn): iPhone 16e (aka the Dud) and now the iPhone Fold (another dud). And in another four years: the iPhone Anniversary Edition - 20th Phone. What does it do? Makes phone call, text messages and oh yes the entire back is covered with cameras. Other than that, nada. Other than over-complicating an iOS with myriad functionality that everyone keeps turning off because it is getting in the way of working and eats up gobs of memory.

And, oh yes, let's not forget Apple Intelligence. Which Microsoft shuttered last week is starting to look a lot like the dot.com boom of the Y2K.

Talk about eating the same meal that Steve Jobs cooked all those years ago. Must be surely getting stale by now.

And the new vision: the Vision Pro aka the dead horse.

Apple needs new blood rather than stirring the same pot ad infinitum.

The mobile phone market is a very mature product. What exactly do you want it to do now? It's really no different than cars today versus cars of 20yrs ago. They have 4 wheels, an engine and get you from point A to point B.

I get very sick and tired of people like you who just sit and dwell over Steve Jobs and how much better Apple would be if he were here. Well he's not so get over it.

Tim Cook is a far better CEO and grew Apple like a weed and has been maintaining it for many years now. I like how you just try really hard to find the failure and totally omit the many successes Apple has had under Tim's direction. The hell with Apple Silicon on Macs and yet another transition for everyone. The hell with Apple Watch, Apple Services, AirPods, etc, etc. But yeah, Steve would have done better right? It's not like Tim didn't expand Apple into other areas to keep itself relevant.

Folding phones to me are like the netbook era. Everyone wanted Apple to release a netbook Mac and never did because they saw how restricted and gimmicky it was. Folding phones is no different. It's just "cool", but provides no real value to the end user.

  • Apple thinks the iPhone 16e target market doesn't care about MagSafe

Apple would be wrong about that.
Then you're not the target market for this device. A good example of who would buy this is someone like my dad. He's 81yrs old and had an iPhone 8 Plus up until recently. He would never ever use MagSafe, nor would he care to. There are people out there such as my dad that are just like him and just want an iPhone but don't need all the wizbang features the newer models have. This is who the 16e market is good for, and not just older folks. There are just normal everyday folks who couldn't care less about all of these extra features.

  • EU's dominant music service wants Apple to be penalized for dominance

Spotify just needs to die. Or they need a new person in charge who can actually try and grow the company and stop blaming everyone else for their shitty business models that aren't working and never will.

  • Apple Maps paid search ads under consideration in monetization push

IDK about anyone else but I'm so sick and tired of every god damn thing having these annoying fuckin ads on them. When I wanna find directions the last thing I want is some annoying ad on the screen somewhere. IDC if it's even on the bottom...it's just distracting and unnecessary.
