  • Rumored Mac Studio trade-in points to possible refresh during WWDC

The Mac Studio is a design monstrosity and should never have been produced by Apple. I agree that it was probably an interim product before the Apple Silicon Mac Pro could be released. Even so, it was a terrible mistake, tarnishing the design credentials of a design-focussed brand.

A 15" MacBook Air, if true, would be a further dilution of the brand. The MBA is a small and light laptop that fits in an envelope.

Since Sir Jony Ive left, Apple appears to have lost its way.

There is a momentum from previous successes but any more crap from Apple will start to impact.
There is and will ever be only one Jony Ive.

Why Cook didn’t do more to keep him, I’ll never know. Outside of jobs, Ive was THE soul of Apple.

It’s definitely a different Apple now and not for the better. But… Jobs and Ive were so amazing, influential and competent at passing down their ethos that Apple is still and will continue to be far and away ahead of everyone else. Just wish it had the same level of care.
IMO, he also hurt Apple with his stupid designs. He always put form over function and only seemed to really care about what it looked like. Today's Macs are so much better than in the Jony Ive era. His obsession with thinness was just stupid and created products that didn't function to their potential because of it. And the stupid little things like the chamfered edges that only looked good until you started to use it and then it was completely scratched up and looked like shit (also increased the production cost), or designing a Bluetooth mouse with the charging port on the bottom just so you didn't see the port which made it so you can't use it while charging. Or, making a laptop so thin that it created cooling issues and was also so thin regular ports no longer fit into the design and they had to design a keyboard that apparently nobody liked, even after a couple revisions. This along with many others just made Apple release products that didn't live up to their full potential.

I may be in the minority, but I believe the Mac Studio is arguably a better long term solution than the higher end iMac 27” and iMac Pro. Of course this doesn’t apply across the board because the 27” iMac was a relative bargain and the iMac Pro and higher end iMacs had discrete graphics. But nothing pained me more than seeing the iMac’s wonderful monitor go to waste because the computer guts were no longer up to snuff.

That said, the Mac Studio is in my mind the ultimate Mac mini with much better thermals and processor flexibility. That’s not a negative take on the Studio because the Mac mini is still an outstanding computer. But comparing the Studio to the Pro or considering it as a temporary stand-in for the Pro is rather silly in my opinion. The Studio is much closer to the mini than what will ultimately be the Apple Silicon Mac Pro. It fills a gap between the mini and Pro, which more people will come to appreciate once they see the price tag on the next Pro.
100%! Exactly! I'm not sure why some are so fixed on an iMac Pro. The Mac Studio is so much better of a higher end Mac. Much more flexibility and it's the same price if not cheaper depending on what display you go with. You can even pair it with Apple's 27" Studio display and it's still the same price as an iMac Pro. Then when you upgrade to a newer model you're not buying the display all over again. IMO, this will actually save you money long term.

  • Nearly every Apple top exec is working on the AR headset

I don't think the majority of the public care about AR/VR. It will just be another product some people will buy. Its no great inovation or world sharttering tech. Techno heads will buy it up as they do with anything new, whether it's useful; or not! That most likley is not what Apple fanatics want to hear but it is what it is.

The majority of the public most likely didn't care about a smartphone until Apple changed that. The majority of the public didn't care about an ultra-portable tablet device (iPad) until Apple changed that. We could go on and on about what the public doesn't care about, until it does something that changes their lives.

I do not understand why Apple does not release the m3 MacBook Pro before the MacBook Air. It gives incentive to consumers to buy the very best.
What do you mean very best? What's the very best to you doesn't mean it's the very best for someone else just looking for an ultra-portable MacBook. Not everyone wants a more expensive heavier laptop with more ports as its overkill for their needs. Different people have different needs which is why MacBook Air exists in the first place.

If the full the range of Mac computers were for sale to the public, Apple probably would’ve been up in Mac Computer sales, when compared to last year’s quarter at the same time.
What do you mean by the full range? 🤔
Full range a larger screen iMac 27 inches or higher. It’s been over a decade, some form of a tower desktop, computer, half size or full size, and where is the rack mountable Mac, is Apple going to wait for those three guys who used to work at Apple, who now work for Qualcomm to introduce a Arm server? All these things Apple will do in the future, it’s just a question of how long Tim Cook is willing to look at fewer Mac’s sold per quarter, and leave billions sitting on the table.
Oh an armchair CEO who thinks they can run Apple better than Apple...love these guys!
