  • Apple plans low-cost MacBook based on iPhone processor

Seems like they could just put an M1 in it if they wanted a cheaper Mac....What I don't want to see if Apple start this race to the bottom with "cheap" devices. Apple is a premium brand and should be treated as such. They may be pricing some people out but that's just how it goes. I can't afford a BMW or Mercedes Benz but that doesn't mean they should be making $25,000 BMW's or Mercedes Benz's. It just cheapens the brand in the end.

That being said if they can keep quality up and use some older SoC's such as the M1 then why not? They make a $500 Mac mini that seems to be good quality however making a $500 Mac mini is a lot different than making a $500-600 MacBook as it has a keyboard/mouse, and screen.

I could see this being popular in K-12/College education. Sorta like the eMac of its time, only a laptop instead of a desktop.

  • If you were underwhelmed by WWDC 2025, you're not alone

No offense, but are you a developer?  It's a developer conference where developers are introduced to new capabilities introduced in the new OSes.

You can't judge a conference by its keynote.

It's possible that the conference is ultimately "underwhelming," but its the conference attendees who will decide that.

    And it's day 2 of a 5-day conference!
I agree and I also think people have unrealistic expectations too. They have these ideas in their heads of what they think Apple should do and when Apple doesn't do it then everything announced is worthless and the Keynote is underwhelming.

  • iPhone 17 Air's battery life could be the shortest in years

Even if it is true, you have to give something somewhere. Where the hell is the battery going to go in something that thin. The only thing Apple can really do is try to make the logic board as small as possible so they can put as long and wide of a battery as possible. I think the neat thing about something like that challenge is it helps the other phones in the future because they'll have to develop new technology to make something like this all work which they can then eventually put into other iPhones.

  • iPhone fold: All the rumors about Apple's first foldable, and when it might launch

Unless Apple can figure out a way to make a folding phone actually useful I couldn't care less if it ever comes out. Otherwise, to me it's just a gimmick, trying to be cool to get someone to buy your product but in the end it's just a phone that folds with no real value to the folding part. It also presents more points of failure for the phone. There's only so many folds before something wears out and breaks. I feel like mobile phones today are just really mature products and there isn't a hell of a lot more you can do with them so there's all of these gimmicky things like folding phones, camera controls on the side of the phone, the action button, etc which sound cool in a keynote presentation but in the real world aren't as useful as presented. Sure you'll have a few people who love it and swear by it but the vast majority of users don't really give a shit about them. They just use it like a regular iPhone as if it didn't have those features.
