Britain's NHS rejects the Apple & Google COVID-19 exposure notification technology
The U.K. is an embarrassment so far in its response to Covid-19.Add this to the list. Every decision whether it was access to tests/lockdown/borders/protective equipment etc ... too little and very late.We needed that app weeks ago here in the U.K. in combination with a viable and frequent test service. Our economy is ruined , & thousands of unnecessary deaths which could have been prevented. The general public here still can’t get access to tests unless carted off to hospital. It’s a disgrace. There is a reason countries like New Zealand did so well. All I can say is whilst the U.K. is terrible it looks like there are plenty of countries making equally bad decisions. -
Apple will miss quarterly guidance & iPhone sales estimates because of coronavirus
Hopefully Apple will diversify more production out of China in future having learnt the lesson now. Saw this coming.First SARS, now Covid-19. I’m sure there will be another until countries (not just China) change the way they treat their wildlife (or any animals for that matter)Perhaps corporations like Apple should pressure the Chinese government for real change - after all the impact has been billions of $ and at least 1800 dead so far. -
Coronavirus forces Apple to close all stores and offices in China until February 9
Probably overkill, but the Apple Stores do tend to be full of mingling people. Probably thousands of infected wandering around without even knowing they are by now since there are >10000 confirmed infected (how many people did they converse with), with the vast majority recovering or not even getting sick. There will probably be some buying opportunities in AAPL in the coming week as fear shakes out the nervous , but we know it’s capable of hitting 325++ again in due course in you are patient.Hopefully the Chinese will close all those barbaric animal markets for good now - the cost in lives and $$$ billions to the global economy is massive. They never learned after SARS though. The United Nations should demand it I think. -
Should you upgrade to iPhone 11 Pro if you have an iPhone XS?
stantheman said:This year’s plain-Jane iPhone 11 is superior to a 2018 Xs, so the 11-Pro is heads and shoulders above the Xs. If there were not going to be an even bigger iPhone upgrade in 12 months, I would be willing to pay the incremental cost of upgrading from Xs to 11-Pro.
but not in the screen resolution/type and size (XS is lighter with less bezel) category. Quite a difference there but is it worth the extra ££/$$ ? Also the XS has a telephoto optical zoom lens whereas the 11 regular has wide and wider.
11 standard though is over £300 cheaper.
I have an XS , and rejected the XR last year due to the screen, but I acknowledge the XR screen was better than I thought it would be when I saw it in person. But it really didn’t compete with the XS when you held them side by side. Neither would the 11. That probably doesn’t matter to most people though who would rather save a few hundred bucks/pounds etc.
Going to go 11 Pro Max this year. Form factor change , plus stunning new cameras and huge battery gain make it a worthy upgrade.

Now whether it’s worth another £300+ is another question entirely.
