  • Epic seeks 'coalition' of Apple critics as fight over App Store policies intensifies

Interestingly, Epic has taken down from Fortnite the big splash screen advertising the hashtag for their movement (I won't repeat it here) but they still do have the discount bait page. I wonder if that means anything?

  • Remembering Steve Jobs on his 68th birthday

I know he could be a piece of work at times, but observing from afar (well not that far, I'm in San Jose), his was an American Success story to the core.  Started with virtually nothing except an idea and the drive and made it work to be one of the biggest successes of American industry, if not the world. I look back at fondness at the time my GATE teacher had an early Apple II that we tinkered with and it boggles my mind that I'm sitting here now with a MacBook Pro with my iPhone at my side, some 40 years later.  Apple is as much a part of my DNA as my hair color I think sometimes, and I'm cool with with it.

  • Amazon maintains massive lead over Apple in US smart speaker market

I've been quite happy with my HPs.  One in the bedroom to ask for weather, news, traffic and using Automation, able to wake me up with music (angelic choir singing).  I particularly like to listen to a Workout playlist as I get ready for my bike rides.  Both now turn on and shut off AppleTV. Both control the Hue lights. Bedroom light also turns on 15 minutes after the music starts in the morning.

Use the living room HP to listen to Tv and movies. Music when I'm cooking, reading and just generally chilling out.

To repeat the comment above, no way in hell I would have a Google or Amazon device in my device when they've shown to be spying on their customers.  Sorry. No wait, not sorry.

  • Apple rolls out improved Maps to all users in the US

Since I got a car with CarPlay last year, I have been using AM exclusively over the other apps. I haven't been disappointed. In fact, on one day in to work, I brought up Waze to see about an alternative route, and AM had a shorter less congested route as its top pick. Just noticed Look Around and the photos are beautiful and sharp. I like being able to share my drive with my family who are iDevice users too. I'm a big fan of the new Maps.

  • Apple earns record $91.8B in first quarter revenue on strong iPhone 11 sales

What of the narrative that the iPhone is dying and the company is morphing the business to focus on services because nobody's buying iPhones anymore? lol
