  • After two months, Apple TV+ lacks a breakout hit

I was skeptical at first about the content. Sure, a lot of big names but of course everything was an unknown quantity. But, The Morning Show blew me a way. It was not what I expected at all, but was pleasantly surprised. Without knowing who the creatives were besides Ms. Aniston and Witherspoon, the show felt a lot like "ER" to me and lo and behold, one of the main creators of TMS was an EP and director on ER. Good, hard-hitting drama. Just what I needed in this sea of fantasy, sci-fi and horror. I think I'll start "For All Mankind" next. Apple can keep the dramas, coming. If they are of the same high quality, likely I'll watch and renew. Outside of licensing material from the big studios for Apple TV+ (not counting purchases and rentals), Apple only has its creative teams to produce engaging content. Not an easy model, but with their deep pockets, I think they'll be alright. Not everything Netflix produces is a hit, nor Amazon or any other service. I wouldn't expect Apple to produce hits with every show. But I do expect them to keep trying.

The AR glasses, another wearable, could be quite the game changer, and put the wearables category into the iPhone space in terms of revenue. Some fashion challenges involving wearing glasses in the first place, but the make or break will be what features and functions it can provide to users. If they are good, AR glasses could be as common at sun glasses.
No. The public simply will not accept these things as normal. Remember Google Glass and the glass-holes. We already have people falling down escalators and into water fountains while playing on their phones. Imagine what AR glasses would add to that mix.
Generally, I agree. But if we know anything about Apple, it's that they won't implement it until and unless they knock it out of the park.  None of this "have the market beta test" mess.

  • ARM to A4: How Apple changed the climate in mobile silicon

For being a huge Apple fan all these years, I didn't understand one thing about ARM, RISC, etc. Thank you for the history lesson Daniel. I get it now. I knew when Apple bought P.A. Semiconductor, that it was huge they would be able to fab their own chips. I just didn't understand to the extent it would be undertaken. And of course, I knew nothing about the acquisition of Intrinsity. It's just amazing what a smashing success it has been and what great foresight Apple had at the time to assume this aspect of their business. It's kind of sad to watch all others flail about trying to mimic or even compete with Apple's vertical integration.

I wouldn't touch it for at least six months after the disastrous IOS 13 rollout
lol. I see what you did there.  Made a declaration about something and offered no back up.  Then we're supposed to say, "dougd said IOS 13 was a disaster, so IT MUST BE TRUE!". Fail.

Running smoothly here.  No issues.  Not only that. A cursory look at news about said IOS shows not a lot of noise about a "disastrous" rollout.

    Whatever dude.

  • Editorial: After taking the premium tier, HomePod will expand in markets Amazon and Google...

Great article Daniel. I find it hilarious that users are still trying to compare it to other similar devices like a sound bar or the aforementioned Alexa devices. It's Apple. They'll press forward with the device until it catches fire, like the iPod, iPad, etc. I have two. I love the "Play everywhere" feature where I start wake-up music in my room and spread it out to the living room / kitchen as I get ready. I check weather, traffic and news before I head out. I come home, play a favorite set of tunes to relax with and watch TV with them as my primary speakers. Like every other Apple product I own, I couldn't imagine what life was like before it. But new models though? Ugh, that feeling of being obsoleted by Apple. lol
