  • Apple's new macOS Catalina is now available

Is it problematic to use Catalina and Mojave side by side on different Macs with the same Apple ID? I remember reading something about how iOS 13 updated Notes maybe and broke compatibility on Mac? I'd like to put Catalina on my MBP but stick with Mojave on my Mac Pro to keep using 32 bit apps.

  • The Apple Pro Display XDR brings 6K to the Mac for $4999

$999 is insane for the stand. VESA mount it is then...

  • Developers must disclose screen recording analytics tools or face expulsion from App Store...

Couldn't Apple block this at the OS level? SHOULDN'T they? Funny some would think an app wouldn't harvest data without asking first. Apple throttled old iPhones without asking first, and then got caught. Just add one more button to the Settings menu that turns this ability off. By default.
They can block this particular SDK but there's no way to have the system recognise when an app is saving an image of any particular view within itself and uploading it somewhere, or capturing inputs etc. and doing the same. I made an app which captures an image of one particular view into which I've generated artworks users can modify and captures another view as an image if a user chooses to save/share it so I'm doing something very similar without then sneaking myself a copy of the images (De Stijl Art Factory, and art generator & colouring app if you're interested) Blocking basic functions like this would cripple legit apps as well as the nefarious ones.

  • Australian parliament will debate bill to weaken encryption by end of 2018

This is easily solved with legislation: simply require owners of such technology to register their passwords with a government agency. If you change your password, you will need to update the registry. Failure to do so brings penalties. Done.
"In other news, the passwords of every Australian citizen were released today by WikiLeaks after a teen hacker found the database was stored on a system running Windows '95. Prime Minister Tucker has called for the populace to remain calm and take a sledgehammer to any network connected device before their better halves take a look at their message logs, and has frozen all digital payments in the country which have been temporarily replaced by a barter system based on fosters and vegemite."

  • Apple stands by Microsoft against 'global search warrant' as case moves to Supreme Court

If the US government compels US companies to break the laws of other nations in which they operate, won't they be obliged to shut down operations in those countries?
