  • Apple temporarily escapes new tariffs in escalating US-China trade war

The Democrats are like a herd of cats. I've been one long enough to know. They aren't "playing" this at all.

As regards China, thou doth protest too much, methinks. China is so very, very far from being a true competitor to the US and the "free world" it isn't even a joke. Yes, they're pirates. In the larger scheme of things, that's their main weakness, and the only way they can get out of that box is to free their people. Anyone see that about to happen?

(The following is Off Topic, and possibly this post will get removed by the editors. Hope you get to read it before that happens.)

You and I are both intelligent enough to know what I mean by long game versus short game, and the inherent problem with playing the short game.

I'm 73 years old. Once upon a time, I thought of Republicans as the Noble Opposition. That went by the wayside a while back, but never quite so deeply into the weeds as it now has. Why? Because they've played the short game, and then the even shorter game, and now the even shorter game, searching out any and all ways to get the votes to give them power. To do what? Give power to the crazies?

I don't say that all Republicans are unprincipled. I have too many Republican friends to think that. But their party has sold its soul to the devil for a mess of pottage, to the point where they are no longer even close to being the party of fiscal conservatism they once were and that I once admired. How bad is it? It's so bad that the Democrats are now the fiscal conservatives!

I call myself a Democrat and a liberal, but a few decades back I was a moderate. And I really haven't changed. Kind of says it all....
I agree with your statements in general about the repblican party but to say the democratic party is any different is either ignorance or arragance or both.

  • Struggling iPhone sales & muted Services predicted for Apple's earnings

As someone who has purchased a new iPhone every year since 2007, this is the first time that, based upon what I’ve read to date, I may not purchase this fall’s newest model.
I’ve gotten new ones every 2 years since the 3G. Still using my iPhone 7+, looking toward 2020. The upgrades just aren’t worth the cost anymore.

  • Mouse support over USB-C could arrive for iPad Pro in iOS 13

If you follow all the people on here, this must not be true. They can’t figure out why you would ever need mouse support on an iPad.

For those using their iPads for something besides watching movies, sweet. A little overdue.

  • Apple cancels AirPower wireless charging mat, citing quality issues

Thank Gawd!   Airpower was overrated.   Wireless charging is easy and cheap yet Apple Fanboys had this irrational fixation on Airpower like it was somehow magical.   Let's move on from an idea that wasn't that stellar in the first place.

No... careful how you frame this. AirPower was different from most of the Qi chargers in the marketplace because it featured 3 charging spots on the same mat. That's technically challenging, as proven by this cancellation. Any other company would have released it, even with it not working exactly as designed. Apple won't do that. Apple "fanboys" benefit from a company that cares about its customers. It was never a fixation. Are you lacking something in your life, you need to put people down to feel better about yourself? You may want to see a doc about that.
Any other company would have just released it? Which is why so many of these AirPower devices are on the market? Get real.

Apple flat out failed, vapor ware at its finest. Hopefully they’ll do better next time.

  • How to check if your flight is on a Boeing 737 MAX 8 & find the best seats on any aircraft...

A couple hundred people die on a comercial flight in another country and everyone freaks out. Meanwhile, nearly 100 people die on the road in the US alone every single day.

Unfortunate loss of life, hopefully they get to the bottom of it and prevent it from happening again.
