  • Intel 10nm Cannon Lake delays push potential 32GB MacBook Pro into 2019

Whiskey Lake is yet another 14nm generation coming later this year. It is presumably yet another Skylake refresh, but if Apple is lucky Intel might have finally upgraded the memory controller to support LPDDR4/LPDDR4X as well.

It's a 3 year delay for Intel's 10nm, and right now there is no strong evidence that Intel is making real progress to fixing the yield issues such that they can release 10nm mass market professional (i.e., 4 core, 6 core) products in 2019 either.
According to the documentation I've seen, Whiskey Lake doesn't support LPDDR4.
Crickey, I thought hattig was joking with Whiskey Lake, you know, we’d be needing some whiskey later this year with another Intel 14nm generation of processors.

Apple may have to make a 1” thick 5 lb laptop again for people who want >32 GB in a laptop...
Or one could take the 2015 design and use the extra space for the controller and the bigger battery? Win win.
Hell throw in an HDMI and USB A.  It’s still hilarious that I could buy a brand new iPhone and be unable to plug it into a brand new MacBook without yet another cable that wouldn’t work with the original charger. Say what you want but that is hilarious.

  • Apple stock taking a beating on analyst note predicting soft summer iPhone X demand

At some point Apple is going to find it hard to maintain their iPhone sales. With the flagships moving up in price, it just becomes less worth it to pay that amount. Not to mention the features are becoming less desired, a 30% faster processor, a marginal camera improvement, or Face ID vs Touch ID won’t impact most people enough to justify the cost. Sure I can buy a new iPhone every 2 years but why not save the cash for something that would materially impact my life, like saving.

Not to say iPhone sales are going to drop but the age of high growth is over.

  • Apple again said to cut HomePod orders on poor sales performance

It might be a good speaker but that’s it. Siri is not a selling feature, Apple is woefully behind in the voice assistant realm. Worse, their software launches have been google-like. I hope iOS12 focuses on improving the software, not adding features to have features. Like gimmick Animojis.
Siri is not a selling feature on the iPhone either yet that sells hundreds of millions. There is no such thing as voice assistant “realm”, that is an urban legend. If you need a voice assistant there it is, in the palm of your hand.
One of those “Apple can do no wrong people” eh?
Even voice dictation is poor against google now.

If there is no such thing as a voice assistant, then why  does Siri exist? What is Siri? But you know what Steve Jobs would ask? “What should Siri be?”

I love my Apple products but to pretend everything about them is better than everyone else’s product is moronic.

  • Apple modular Mac Pro launch coming in 2019, new engineering group formed to guarantee fut...

Depressing how behind the curve Apple is here. Probably too much focus on portables, with iPhone sales plateauing, they are looking to grow other divisions.  Hopefully the team will fix it.
