Touch ID MacBook, 'Series 4' Apple Watch with ceramic back, USB-C iPad Pro may be coming
mac_128 said:I doubt the iPad Pro would switch to USB-C and remove the headphone jack. Maybe add a USB-C port for compatibility with computers since Apple is marketing as a computer replacement. But there is no USB-C audio standard yet, and by removing the headphone jack make the iPad Pro incompatible with all other iOS devices for headphones, not to mention accessories like the Pencil, requiring yet more adapters. -

Apple wants iPhone to be proof of identity and replace passports
I see a problem with this idea. To view the passport, you will unlock your phone, breaking your security measures. You are forced to identify yourself with your phone and risking the phone being confiscated without a security measure. Further, don’t forget software and battery concerns, I will stick to the old fashion method on this one. No battery, no software, always works unless stolen.

Samsung continues attacking iPhone and Apple Stores in ad campaign
Reminds me of the PC vs Mac ads. They make fair points. You'll need a dongle to make old headset work. This annoys me at work, where I leave an older pair of headphones. Usually by the afternoon, I have to chose between charging my phone or listening to music. Also found this trouble in my vehicle (doesn't have bluetooth) with I first got my iPhone 7. Prior, I would plug in the phone to charge and plug in the AUX cable for music. Bought a cheap bluetooth adaptor to plug into the headphone jack in my vehicle; not optimal but functional. First world problems. Just ends up meaning I will at some point need to get a pair of bluetooth headphones and keep something else charged, plus the batteries will die and need replacing. Gets to be pretty capital intensive.eideard said:As a FORMER fan of Samsung TVs, I wouldn't waste a penny on any of their electronics. Of the last 3 of their TVs purchased, 2 needed 3-figure repairs for shoddy workmanship or components. The latter required joining a successful class action suit which revealed Samsung used a purchase of cheapo 10-year-old components someone found in a warehouse...to produce that batch of TV sets.
Add in rotating jail time for family members chosen to run the company.and I'm buying almost any other alternative. They offer nothing to tempt me away from Apple. -
Corning reveals Gorilla Glass 6 likely destined for Apple devices
This is where Apple has done a great job. When they went from the iPhone 4-style design to the 5, they made the screen the first component to come off, not one of the last. I changed the screen on my iPhone 4, talk about a mess. It was a great design change with the end user in mind (and their repair centers).
Plus the iPhone does a good job of protecting the screen. The Samsung edge screen breaks crazy easy from what my two friends tell me. 2 phones, one shattered, one cracked while both were in cases. Both were normal drops.
