  • Apple rumored to introduce MacBook with scissor switch keyboard in mid 2020

am I seriously the only one here without issue with the keyboard? I enjoy the butterfly keyboard. my wife has the MacBook with the butterfly keyboard too and thinks that she types faster on it. I like the less travel and the evenness of the keystrokes. I have never had any issue and I use mine every day. To be fair, I also have a no food/drink near the computer policy that is strictly enforced.

  • Amazon Kindle versus iPhone XS Max: choosing the best e-book reader

I read 1,000 pages or more a week (I teach at a university and research is a never ending). I do not have a kindle because for me it would be one more device. also- I have to convert any epub I buy elsewhere into amazon format (impossible if I bought the book through apple), apple's books app will take ANY ePub regardless of where I purchased it from (I have not run into any problem so far).
I am Scottish so direct sunlight of any kind for more than 10 minutes could result in severe sunburn or death, therefore I have no use for the ability to read in direct sunlight (not knocking the feature though).
I have an iPhone, iPad, and MacBook Pro. I read on the train, I read in my office, I read at home. where I left off I can pick up instantly. I like the notes and highlighting better as well.

lastly, I know this is shallow, but as I paid for the books I want them to be just as I want them. so if I find a better cover on the internet, I just download that image and drag and drop that image onto the book in books.app on my laptop and now I have a more aesthetic image, in my opinion (on al my devices).  I could never find out how to do that for kindle other than using calibre.app and cracking into the book to make the change, making it not worth it.

I just wish the current administration understands the majority of large US companies are
multinational and getting into a trade war hurts all Americans not just foreign countries.
It certainly gets tricky with the multi-nationals and products being created in many places, etc. But, I think they are just trying to balance things out some. For example, in the 'trade battle' with Canada, they are imposing tariffs on stuff like aluminum, steel, etc. (if I understand correctly) in an attempt to bargain with Canada on the *massive* tariffs Canada has imposed on stuff like dairy products. (and, while I don't follow the MSM too closely, I've not heard that at all on USA MSM... only a Canadian media outlet, ironically)
the trouble there is the Canadian government does not subsidise dairy products, the U.S. does, meaning the price is artificially lower. trump can say U.S. dairy farmers must be protected, but why cannot Canada protect their farmers from artificially low U.S. dairy product prices? And put in better context, dairy is 0.2% of the total value of good exported to Canada from U.S. The U.S. has a 164% tariff on unshelled peanuts, and a massive 350% tariff on tobacco. The point is that we need to see it as a whole, narrowing down on one specific part of trade is missing the forest for the tree.

    Paging GoogleGospelGuy, paging GoogleGospelGuy…
Asking me for my opinion by using my forum name would be preferred. Please avoid trollish "calling LOL-I-thought-of-a-funny-name-for-you har har" behaviour meant to elicit a negative response. We're equally entitled as long-term contributing members of the AI community, and really should make at least a show of effort at respecting each other.

So in the future when you'd like to hear my opinion on something please try to do so without resorting to what is essentially juvenile name-calling. It comes off as both bumptious and uncultivated whether it's done by a fellow forum member or a head of state, and I'm pretty certain that's not the perception you would wish to leave.
Funny though, how you only show up and post when Google is mentioned, and it’s always in defense or promotion of Google. Maybe you should change your user name to GoogleEvangelist then as it would more accurately describe your participation in these forums.
he adds context that others have forgotten or do not realise. I am not a google fan in any way shape or form, but he makes good points. and many times his comments are not in the defense nor the promotion of google but rather setting the record straight. it is easy to bash google, just as easy as macrumour kids bash apple, but the key is keeping everything in context and not overshooting our knowledge of the subject (and I am not sure how many forum folk actually work for google, or as high up enough to say how much was actually lost, so our numbers should be held suspect).
