M4 Max Mac Studio vs M1 Ultra Mac Studio compared: A multi-generational shootout
I had exactly this debate two months ago. I sided with a fantastic second-hand, well-specced M1 Ultra off eBay. With exception to the downside of Thunderbolt 4 over Thunderbolt 5, I went with the Ultra at HALF the cost of what I’d have needed to spec up NEW from Apple.

OpenCore and Hackintosh are sadly dead after Apple ends Intel Mac support
Still using at least part of my workdays on a maxxed out MacPro 5,1 12-core 3.46Ghz with Open Core, as are most of my colleagues. Mac Studio with an Ultra at home though for the best of both worlds.
I cannot thank the Open Core guys enough for their amazing work over the years.

LMAO. 2026 is an *****ETERNITY***** in AI land with monthly (and often Weekly) updates to the big five.
Since Gemini 2.0 came out just before Christmas 2024, the unprecedented rate of improvement from all the AIs has quantum leaped and getting faster.Gemini 2.5 Pro and OpenAI O3 are both SO far ahead of the game right now with the reasoning models, and ChatGPT leads with the transformer models by a huge margin.Apple will be so far down the table by “next year”.
Tim Cook just needs to give Google the money right now and integrate Gemini fully.

I don’t understand why Paramount isn’t MUCH higher with all of Taylor Sheridan’s raft of shows alone, from the entire Yellowstone franchise and prequels, to Tulsa King, Landman, and Lioness. -
macOS 26 may not support 2018 MacBook Pros, 2019 iMacs, or the iMac Pro
Fingers crossed it’s doesn’t disappoint like the EVEN numbered MacOS do, unlike the ODD numbered version like the terrible, bug-ridden Sequoia. G0d, o hate it.
Apple need to make this MaxOS26 a Snow Leopard level maintenance release imho.
