  • Sprint and T-Mobile agree to all-stock merger deal worth $26 billion

How can a Sprint (CDMA) customer use T-Mobile’s (GSM) network?
What’s most interesting is that each company uses four totally different LTE bands, so every single one of their customers is going to need a new phone (with 8 antennae) to be able to use the new network.
Not true. I’m using a Sprint phone on the T-Mobile network. Both Sprint and Verizon iPhones  are fully compatible with the AT&T and T-Mobile networks.

It is the iPhones labeled for T-Mobile and AT&T that are not compatible with Verizon and Sprint networks. I was with AT&T for many years and always bought a Verizon iPhone. I then switches to T-Mobile and bought both Verizon and Sprint iPhones to use with the T-Mobile network.

So, Sprint is owned by  Japanese company (80%) while T-Mobile is owned by a German company (60%). This means the combined company would still be foreign owned. I guess that doesn’t bother anyone since most US companies are majority-owned by companies outside the US.
Axis powers are at it again.

Easily. CDMA phones nowadays come with the GSM-capable chip. The question is how a T-Mobile customer can use the Sprint network.

  • Instagram nixes native Apple Watch app, citing death of watchOS 1 SDK

Running on the beach without having to bring an iPhone - that's the benefit of Apple Watch 3 with LTE. Same goes for my wife going for a run. I can see where she is and that she is safe, and she doesn't need to bring her phone.

When I go roller blading on a concrete trail in a forest for a 15 mile skate I don't have to bring my iPhone with me anymore. My watch tracks my workout, streams my podcast, and gives me phone connectivity to stay connected with my family. I leave my iPhone in the car.

These are the benefits of Apple Watch 3 with LTE. Those who don't work out outside don't need LTE connectivity. But those who do, really appreciate Apple Watch 3 with LTE. I also owned an Apple Watch 2, and I can say with certainty that the only place I found it useful was at a gym, since I could take phone calls on it via Wi-Fi while I left my iPhone in the locker. However, for outside workout, I always had to bring my iPhone with me. Series 2 was not nearly as useful for me as Series 3.

The state of home automation is a huge mess. HomeKit hasn't done anything to simplify it.
