Painfully obvious: It needs a SSD slot. Not a removal of the underside and difficult installation but an actual slot into which you insert a SSD stick complete with heat sink. This would greatly extend the useful life of the Mac Mini and would be trivial for Apple to add as the SSD's only connector is on its end. Five years from now a M1 Pro or Max will still be a decent processor but the SSD will seem very slow and cramped.

There is still a strong need for a way to expand the SSD. A small slot in the back with the ability to insert and remove a M2 SSD module would do the trick nicely. Bonus points if it can be hot-swapped while the computer is on. SSDs are evolving rapidly in both speed and capacity. For a computer to have a 5 to 8 year life, you will want to upgrade the onboard storage. No external port, be it USB 4 or Thunderbolt, can get anywhere close to the speed of a M2 SSD. Even game consoles allow the SSD to be replaced with performance above 6 GB/s.

This is fun to watch. It is the overinflated promises of 5G vs the head in the sand attitude of the aviation industry.

It’s great that Apple is getting into AR/VR but an unproven product in a new product category at an unaffordable price won’t do well regardless of how many fans it has.

Competition is a good thing. I sure wish Apple, Intel and other chip makers were competing to build fabs all around the country and around the planet. Having everyone compete for the same fab space at one company in Taiwan is extremely poor long term planning considering China's latest moves.
