  • Apple sued for allowing loot boxes in App Store

My son is six (40 min screen time a day) and one thing that’s brought once and again to his attention are the badges and etc of the free games. I try to bring his attention to the payed ones and to the ones that do not create addictive behavior with limited success.

Probably is not bad that the regulators intervene into the topic. Apple’s answer to model is Arcade, we cannot pretend that Apple management is unaware of the issue or that’s just “parent’s responsibility”.

  • Apple TV hardware is a great example of Apple's full-stack integration, and is overlooked

The glass remote is crappy at best. Almost unusable for the three of us. Sold ours (overpriced) ATV HD after three months of use and looking for alternatives. The old Atv still doing its job pretty well in the end.

  • Ex-Apple designer targets HomePod with Syng 'Cell' speaker startup

I do not agree with the idea of (entry level) audio getting worst over time, quite the contrary for me (and my ears).
spent 4K between speakers and a Yamaha receiver two years ago and result is very good. Was the 15k solution audibly better? Yes, but not 4 times better. Is my 500usd living room sound system 8 times worst than my audio gear? I’ll say not. Is my iPhone with whatever earbuds (shure, sennheiser, etc) I throw at it “bad sound”? I don’t think so. And etc.

  • Review: Apple's entry-level 2020 13-inch MacBook Pro is yesterday's tech for today's price...

Most of Apples product line is yesterday’s technology at today’s or premium price. Wake up mac users and fellow apple fans. Problem is the alternatives still suck worse! So we can’t just use other stuff. The only effective way to make Apple better, and to do the right thing and give us truly an amazing hardware/software integrated experience is to keep your old stuff. Don’t buy, unless Apple makes it truly compelling (not hype) but truly compelling and. a special product. You will know when that moment happens for you.
No. Every Apple product I’ve kept lasted us many years. We still have a Mac Mini 2007 for some chores at home. Same for my iPad first retina (the one that lasted 6 months as the top model) that I use for my secondary kindle account.
But yes. Some products are expensive. In February I’ve sold a gorgeous IPad Pro 2019 with keyboard & pencil ‘cause there is not a huge difference with the entry level iPad (for our use cases). And I’m now probably going to sell our new Apple TV ‘cause the remote stinks (and the old Apple TV 3rd gen gives almost the same value). My sensation is that sometimes form is more important than value nowadays and flexibility (and value) are compromised.

Good job Apple, and good job to all the companies and individuals stepping up to help where governments have spectacularly dropped the ball.
Isn’t it better for the global society that these (hahaha) generous companies pay their due taxes without going into complicated BEPS strategies? How can you mention that their sad charity give a good example?
