I'm skeptical of a consumer-oriented robot being a desirable or successful product anytime soon. 

However, building robots that can assemble iPhones and other products would be highly valuable to Apple. I think that should be their focus. I suspect that the lessons learned from building robots that can efficiently build iPhones would translate into other robot products for external customers.

I don't use it a ton, but I'm happy that my series 9 still has that sensor working. 

I probably won't consider upgrading until Series 14 or 15. Hopefully they are able to get that functionality back by then.

After Andy Grove, Intel switched mottos from “only the paranoid survive” to “only the complacent maximize next quarter’s profit and the CEO bonus.” Those CEOs achieved their goal — they got rich by cashing in on previous generations’ investments without making investments of their own.
